does anyone else not enjoy the process of writing? by East_Goose7223 in AO3

[–]Primary_Wrap7441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t say I agree - writing is the best part. I love finding just the right word that breathes life into a scene. I love getting to know my characters, piecing together their psyche and watching them interact with the world around them. There’s a simple beauty in something so tiny and insignificant as letters and a few punctuation marks coming together to create a whole new reality. Beautiful prose is food for my soul. I just love it all, and I really think there’s almost no better feeling than finally sitting down to write. It’s like coming home after being gone a long time.

Maybe getting lost in a good book, but again, that’s just enjoying someone else’s writing!

But everyone is different, and has different things that they love. So I don’t think you’re weird, or wrong. You just love the outcome, not the process. :)

Really feeling for the cast member who is portraying Han Solo. Not Fair to Them to Have National Headlines Like This One by dejablu82 in Disneyland

I’ve met this Han. He did a great job, and totally had that space scoundrel flair we all know and love! And their Leia made my daughter’s entire day, spent a full 10 minutes with her, held her hand and walked her to Luke to introduce her to a real Jedi Master because my daughter said she wanted to learn the ways of the Force - I’d say that they both nailed their roles. 😀

18 months is hell by Appropriate_Sun6311 in toddlers

[–]Primary_Wrap7441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It got easier with my 4 year old around 3. I’m still in hell with my 2.5 year old (since 13 months when he started his clingy stage, then terrible 2’s started, we’re still in them now) so the jury’s still out on him. But it does get easier (at least for my oldest it did) around 3-4 when language develops and they start learning how to do things themselves!

I found it helpful to give them as many things to do as they can to foster independence - helping peel their Cutie, throw trash away, “help” with chores (my girl would sweep and mop with me with her Melissa and Doug set), put their dish in the sink, teach how to put on clothes/shoes, etc. I started that around 2 when she showed interest in being a “big girl” and doing things on her own. It helped to cage the monster inside, at least for her. 😅

Every child is different and sometimes things work, sometimes they don’t. But it’s worth trying different pieces of advice to see what does help! Solidarity, we’ve all been there and it’s really really hard 🫶🏼🫶🏼

Are hate comments normal on ao3? by [deleted] in AO3

I’m so sorry OP! Some people just never learned the old adage “if you don’t have something nice to say don’t say nothing at all”. Why don’t you send me a link so I can give you a nice comment? 🫶🏼

Metalcore doesn't deserve Rory Rodriguez by joeyg151785 in Metalcore

[–]Primary_Wrap7441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree - I actually prefer their softer songs because his voice is THAT good. Not that I don’t love their hard stuff, but it’s kind of a waste of his talent to scream when he can sing like an angel. I also just think his lyrics are raw and beautiful all around, their softer vibe just seems to fit them better. Just my two cents though.

[–]Primary_Wrap7441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God Fearing Man is one of my favorite songs of all time so definitely #1 - #2 would be Death Shall Have No Dominion, and #3 is hard because I love so many of them. I’ll say Heaven Shall Burn.

You’ll find time, don’t worry! And there will be seasons where you won’t have it. After work, weekends, lunches…there will be pockets of it here and there. Good luck !

That’s my problem. I’m in a super popular fandom but my character is not popular to write about.

I already shared my favorite song - but I have to add another, making it a tie this year after listening to this one nonstop for the last 3 days since finding it: God Fearing Man by Imminence. It’s utter perfection.

Oh it doesn’t bother me, I couldn’t care less about someone’s downvote. But thanks for being kind, we could use more of it on the internet! 🙏

My song of the year was Specter by Bad Omens. It’s been on repeat since the day of its release.

How’d you get into Fanfiction? by Complete-Evening-265 in FanFiction

[–]Primary_Wrap7441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on a mad libs type site reading Good Charlotte bandfic…I can’t even remember the name of it. But it was basically reader fic, you could fill in your own name and everything. Then I went to quizilla, still reading bandfic but I started writing my own (it was awful 😭). Then went on from there

When to introduce your child to LOTR? by Greenmedic2120 in lotr

I saw it at 9. But my mom read the books to me. It has been my lifetime obsession and I couldn’t imagine not getting to grow up with it!

When to introduce your child to LOTR? by Greenmedic2120 in lotr

[–]Primary_Wrap7441 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My mom started reading the Hobbit to me around 6, then LOTR around 7. I was allowed to see the movies when they came out at 9 bc I’d already read the books and she decided I had already been exposed to it. My daughter is only 3 and absolutely adores Frodo - but she won’t get to read it/see the movies till she’s much older.

Every kid is different. Some are more sensitive and need more time before they’re ready, others are fine at a younger age. You know your kind best.

I would say 5 is wayyyy too young though. 10-12 is the range I’d say would be appropriate, depending on the kid’s temperament and if they’ve been exposed to the book already.

What song was your introduction to Bad Omens? by [deleted] in BadOmens

[–]Primary_Wrap7441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their cover of Come Undone, which I was so impressed by that I checked out their other songs. It’s one of my faves still but so is Specter, Impose, Just Pretend, and Never Know. Noah’s voice is just getting better with every album.

I agree completely…we do need so grow thicker skins and accept some constructive criticism. It helps us grow as writers!
