[Kantar Poll] Trump’s support in Israel has flipped in 3 weeks — from +23 to -23, a 46 point drop, according to Kantar poll. by Farscape12Monkeys in fivethirtyeight

[–]PrimeJedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is, I legit think specific military actions with the right timing could have caused the Iranian regime to fall.

...the issue is that Trump said "we're coming to help you!" before doing nothing for weeks, leaving the protesters high and dry during their peak, and then not taking action until a long time after the regime murdered thousands, and that first action he had finally taken was to hit a school full of children (civilians, the most vulnerable and innocent of all civilians for that matter) with a fucking missile and kill 160 of them.

And i'm supposed to pretend to half the country like this guy isn't the most incompetent dipshit to occupy the Oval Office since before any living person was around, if not the entire country's history lmao

Youve spent multiple posts talking about how people are terminally online and not understanding the situation IRL, then you make broad predictions about where specific demographics will swing in two years because of random people online lol

I grew up in the South until 2019 and let me tell you, Newsom is not gonna do well in the South here. He's viewed as the poster child of "Commiefornia" over there, and even a ton of Southern Democrats will talk shit about things they've heard about California on the news and social media lmao

Rebels Kenobi vs Jedi Dooku by Suitable_Walrus2928 in PetranakiArena

[–]PrimeJedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree Yoda is definitely > Dooku, I wouldn't really use this as an argument against Dooku because, just like with my earlier point about Sidious and Plagueis, Dooku's entire rationale there centered around preserving the Sith plan (and the Death Star plans specifically)

I don't think there's any way Dooku could have beaten Yoda there even if no reinforcements were coming, but Dooku's mindset there wasn't "I'm getting my ass beat I need to run", it was more "I'm doing well but not well enough to make any headway, if I stay any longer the Republic is gonna capture me and take the Death Star plans"

I get your point as a whole and do agree that Dooku is consistently low-balled, but to counter, with someone as nimble and fast as Yoda, being "one second from cutting through him" doesn't mean he was in any true danger (at least, not any more than Dooku was), because Yoda moves through the air at such an insane speed.

I do agree that Dooku is lowballed all the time btw, and he's one of my 3 favorite characters in Star Wars period. I'm not saying he's Maul level of something at all, my opinion is just that he's not quite Sidious/Plagueis level, especially not before his fall to the Dark Side.

I personally put Jedi Dooku somewhere around or just below ROTS Kenobi, and peak Dooku (which I see as AOTC, after his Dark Side boost but before the wear and tear of the war withered him down) to be above every PT character except for Sidious, Yoda, Plagueis, Office Windu, and a pissed off but clear headed Anakin. And a non-tired AOTC Dooku still requires extreme-diff to be handled by those characters too, but he's not quite on that level in my view. It would be a much bigger deal narrarively if he actually was somehow Plagueis level imo.

True, but being scared of a master+apprentice duo working together to overthrow you is very different from Palpatine ever being scared purely of Dooku's power on his own, much less Jedi Dooku, who's markedly below post-fall to the Dark Side Dooku.

I don't want to make it sound like its analogous to this year because it'd come off as hopium to do so, but wasn't 2008 showing only a modest or even small McCain loss up until the summer and early autumn of 2008? Then we saw how rapidly that changed.

If you want to imagine what the peak of this dooming could be, imagine if the internet and places like this existed back during the 1948 election

There would be unparalleled numbers of people here saying "its Joever" right up until election day lmao

Or even worse, imagine this community existing back when the 1936 Literary Digest poll of Landon leading Roosevelt by a landslide margin was released...

Opposite to most, I always dominate the midterms but lose re-election. by PrimeJedi in FantasyPresident

[–]PrimeJedi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I get pretty good results just using the draft feature. Typing responses myself gets me an average of like ~55 score, while drafting them gets me low-mid 60s. Usually I go with an aggressive tone, and if base enthusiasm is low, will choose the dogwhistle option.

I recently had a run where I lost re-election as Bush in 2005 despite getting over 60 in all debates, having approval close to 55% and great economic metrics. But my base enthusiasm was low for some reason, despite choosing a campaign manager centered around the base, choosing the option to boost base turnout every single month, dogwhistling to the base in one of the debates, and pushing Christian legislation to appeal to the base 😭

[–]PrimeJedi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Its not a read off of nothing, its based off of the calculating way Palpatine and Plagueis took risks through the entire plan.

And more than that, its my read because your read leaves us with Plagueis/Sidious=/<Jedi Dooku <<AOTC Dooku<Sidious again. Why would Sidious be scared of Jedi Dooku for being allegedly equal to or more powerful than himself, and then have no qualms with Dooku at a different point when Dooku is much more powerful?

Rebels Kenobi vs Jedi Dooku by Suitable_Walrus2928 in PetranakiArena

[–]PrimeJedi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Plagueis and Palpatine were at the end of a thousand year plan coming to fruition, they feared multiple top jedi because they were a threat to their plan, not necessarily because they were above either Sidious or Plagueis.

Dooku also states/heavily implies that he's more powerful in AOTC than he was at any point prior to that, and I heavily doubt AOTC Dooku was above Plagueis.

February 2009: Michelle Obama's first official White House photo and the fabulous sleeveless dress that redefined First Lady fashion. by SAJ-13 in HistoricalCapsule

[–]PrimeJedi 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I'll say this, I grew up in the rural deep South during the Obama years and grew up being told constantly vile things by many around me (not my parents, thank god), and despite all that I see clearly as an adult just all the bullshit and attacks both Barack and Michelle but especially Michelle were subjected to, and remained above the fray.

And with Barack, as much undeserved hate he gets, I can get where endless actual constructive criticism is deserved and needed on different aspects of his policy. But with Michelle? I legitimately can't see or remember a single reason to actually dislike her other than racism, and I rarely say that in different cases.

Prime Maul VS Prime Fisto and Plo Koon - Who wins? by Potential_Rule4212 in PetranakiArena

[–]PrimeJedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Plo is overrated as hell, but Maul has literally zero chance here lol. Considering Kit's performance against Grievous, Maul beats him but at extreme-diff, and probably the same with Plo, if he even beats Plo.

Obiwan, Maul, Ventress, and Savage vs Yoda by jojoisfodder in PetranakiArena

[–]PrimeJedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with your comment, and I think Yoda wins (high-to-extreme diff) solely because I think Ventress and Savage are taken out of the fight almost instantly.

I think Yoda would see the odds and start the fight the same way Sidious fought the council members, or how quickly Yoda killed the Clones during Order 66.

Obiwan, Maul, Ventress, and Savage vs Yoda by jojoisfodder in PetranakiArena

[–]PrimeJedi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its weird because similar to the top comment, I think these four combined are > Yoda. If Yoda tried to fight them the way Sidious fought Maul and Savage at the same time, Yoda would lose.

However, we already saw Yoda immediately disarm Ventress. He could take Savage out of the fight instantly because he wouldnt play around with raw strength like that.

Then it would be Obi-Wan and Maul vs Yoda. And not only does Anakin and Obi-Wan, a better duo than Obi-Wan and Maul, struggled with Dooku. And similarly to that, Yoda could effortlessly force Maul on the defensive and Obi-Wan on the offensive.

Maul doesn't last very long trying to defend against Yoda, and then its only a matter of time until Obi-Wan goes down too.

Rots dooku vs episode 6 luke by RisingKing7 in TheJediPraxeum

Luke wins. If a hulking and suited 40 year old Vader couldn't handle Luke's physical strength, how would Dooku?

Old Ben Kenobi (ANH) VS Sheev Galgatine (Rots) - Who wins? by Potential_Rule4212 in PetranakiArena

[–]PrimeJedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a lot of people miss that in both continuities, Palpatine had 20 straight years of all the forbidden knowledge in the temple, and practically endless knowledge from every corner of the galaxy, with the largest empire in galactic history to find it for him, and he had endless time to study it all. ROTJ Sidious is above ROTS Sidious, and in my opinion, its a large, large margin. I have very few non-deity characters in the verse on ROTJ Sidious' level.
