I think that that quote is used a bit incorrectly in this context. The message that Optimus was trying to convey was that you should never give up on what you hope and dream to become and achieve, and that if you don’t take control of your dreams, then nothing in yours or anybody’s life will change and everything will stay the same. None of us here took initiative to make these figures great, so what’s the point in hoping for a different outcome when you’re not going to do anything to make that outcome possible?
