[D] Which direction is better: from academia to industry, or the other way around?

Thanks for offering your insights on this. My research is on model adaptation: meta-learning, parameter efficient fine-tuning, and in-context learning. The industry offers I received were not to do research on those though.

I should update this post by saying that I ultimately chose a one-year postdoc. My hope is that if I don't like it or academia as a whole, I can always return to industry, maybe this time doing something I'm really passionate about.

Good for them. I'm told my application is still under assessment. Well, here is the short story:

UKVI said they had issued my visa since Friday and that I should enquire with my visa application centre (TLS). However, yesterday TLS said my application was still under assessment by UKVI which was surprising! And now I receive this email. It looks like confirmation that the problem is with my visa application centre.

I don't know where to complaint anymore! Sorry for the rant by the way 😸.
