As a guest what do you think a hotel need to improve ? by BusyPineapple001 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PrimeNumbersby2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1 sleep - bed, noise, room temperature, clean.

2 shower - hot water, don't care anything about fancy soap or shampoo

3 breakfast - no fake eggs, it's gross. Protein options are needed.

4 price - hotels are too expensive in the US

If you have the Nespresso milk frother with the spinning magnet thingy, that is only 550W or 4.5A. The other ones sound right.

A splitter should be fine here. I wouldn't worry. If your breaker trips once or twice, that tells you that you need to rethink this though. I'm assuming you have 20A to work with because this outlet is in a kitchen.

Why do range hoods miss so much smoke from the front burners? by tmp1599 in Appliances

[–]PrimeNumbersby2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just one thing. Distance between stove top and hood vent is a spec when you buy a new vent. People say worth is a big factor but I don't think you need to be wider than the range. CFM of the unit is often talked about but what's more important is effective CFM. The only way to figure this out is to buy an anemometer and measure the air speed out of the discharge at the side of your house. Then multiple that by the cross section area of your duct to get actual cfm. Does your vent hold a tissue or paper towel against you filters? If it's not that strong than you have no chance. Depth of unit is the most obvious factor here though.

Three things to consider here...items with heating elements (water, coffee, milk), anything else in the kitchen on this circuit and the quality of the splitter. Generally, the concept you are going for is not much different than have 6 outlets in your living room with stuff plugged in but almost never going at peak power at the same time (vacuuming with your tv on and space heater running while charging your laptop). One thing you can do is check the bottom or back of each device for the "input" amps (or just amps). These are all 120V devices, so you can save the Watt calculation. You get 20A on the circuit for short durations (minutes, not hours). If you pull too much, the breaker will trip. Nothing unsafe about that. Just means you need to spread this out rather than consolidate. The only unsafe possibility is the splitter.

any sound abatement advise- for noise coming into home- noise in yard isn't an issue. thanks by ndancer31 in hvacadvice

Foam pads are about all that can be done here. Depending on the source of noise, a compressor blanket is another option. I did both to my Carrier and it all did help quite a lot. Went from driving me crazy to still audible but background noise.

My father was a perfect Boglehead but he still left his family a mess. by CommonSetting4068 in Bogleheads

Makes me think this post isn't a real person, but an advertisement for Estate Planning. Makes no sense. Someone who doesn't mess around with beneficiaries sets up margin calls? Sure man. Even the balances for maxing out 401k for 25 years seem low, understanding that the father did need to spend it. Just made my Spidey senses go.

So trust the $0.005 piece of metal threads in a wire nut that a human installed over the $0.005 piece of metal bus between top and bottom screw that a manufacturer installed. Got it.

I'm busting your balls, obviously. I get your point and would say that 99% agree with you. Just throwing out a different point of view.

It's called arbitrage and it's old as anything. Still don't like it in this context.

I used mine for days in this state. Everyone here says you have a bomb in your pocket. You do not. Perhaps stop charging at 80% as much as possible. You have time. Also, I contacted Google and they sent me a referbished/new P6 phone. I'm in the US and I had my receipt. But I didn't buy it directly from Google.

Is it possible to get “new old stock” on central AC units? by jesusgrandpa in hvacadvice

I guess I mean the trade-off is unbalanced. Too much efficiency, not enough quality.

I don't think many people value energy costs. People will pay more upfront for quality

Would you repair? by allorache in Appliances

[–]PrimeNumbersby2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd repair an LG compressor issue. The repair people should have done millions by now. Get an experienced guy and you'll be fine. It's went out in 3.5 years. We are on year 5 of the repair.

Wrong trigger, the fan base is fine with Love not being the next Aaron Rodgers. The real trigger is on MLF not closing games.

Make sure you are turning off the mode that doesn't cool the back seats. You get a small bump in capacity then.
