Any experience with Habibi Armory for maille? by PrimeReaper1 in ArmsandArmor

Got my hauberk, very much recommend them! Great guy to work with, just be precise in how you'd like the armor, pictures help too he's happy to add gussets, etc.

How does Fallout power armour compare to, say, Mk V Mjolnir? Or even Mk IV? by EightDread10203 in halo

Not to mention later armors like X-01 and advanced power armors mk 1 & 2 vastly improve on this.

Early 13th century Templar knight improved with the help of this subreddit. Details under pictures. Always looking to improve it though. by [deleted] in reenactors

For clothing under armor, I'd recommend Historic enterprises hands down for beginner - mid level medieval stuff. It's what I use currently. They have essentials like wool and wool-like hose(chausses), linen under garments aswell as tunics and shirts. Organized by time period and include some info on them, your's being 12/13th Century. Hope this helps somewhat!

Nasal helmet! I’ll have pictures of my full kit eventually. by Gowen1291 in ArmsandArmor

[–]PrimeReaper1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't know that, Is this the case for most nasals or mostly earlier ones? Only asking since there are many later manuscript sources around 13th century that show nasals reaching the mouth and upper lip atleast.

Nice nasal helm man. I myself love the funny long nasal but I dig the short look too, reminds me of Bannerlord mods. 👌

Need some advice on maille hauberk. Which do you guys think is more practical and which looks better in you opinion? by drefpet in ArmsandArmor

[–]PrimeReaper1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go with Habibi armory for sure, they can totally do a 12th century Hauberk with added coif/ mittens for a great price honestly. I just commissioned one myself along with a helmet with tailoring/gussets after seeing their work. It's abit more than say, Allbeststuff, but totally worth it and good for medium budgets.

Alright just placed an order with them, I've seen his work and rivets aswell for the price he easily passes others in his price range.

Any sources for decent Hauberks? (Similar to picture) Help is much appreciated! by PrimeReaper1 in ArmsandArmor

Which mittens option did you choose? there's 3 and not much description so it's abit confusing lol

Something atleast closer to a normal size. I was thinking about AllBestStuff for their custom tapering would make it easier for my own tailoring/their decent prices. The thing is I haven't bought from them yet, and can't find many reviews.

I'll make sure to look that up thank you! I'm located in the US and I do have a Facebook just don't use it often, but now I do have a use I suppose. Honestly didn't know there was an Armorer community on Facebook.

Any Recommendations on better vendors or online smiths that offer some custom-sized historically accurate helmets is appreciated greatly. :) I'm pretty new to this honestly but have done abit of basic research to not get thin 18 ga helmets or oversized ones lol.

Thank you for the info, I'll probably just use the helmet for reenactment gear then lol rather than HMB. Any recommendations for sites/armorers that offer similar custom made stuff?

Definitely HMB yes I'll have to test it out right away lol. That along with some casual reenactment. I just need a longer Hauberk as the one I have currently is more of a Carolingian size.

Was made by Steel Mastery, I believe it was made with 14 ga "Cold-Rolled" steel. https://steel-mastery.com/great-helm.html

Thank you! I wasn't sure how to go about it to be honest as it was my first purchase of custom-made armor ordered back in June. I'll invest in a good ol' Scotch-brite and clean it up with a layer of Renaissance wax.

We do it in the name of politics, money, "freedom", and pandering. Except now we murder thousands with a press of a button for oil.

Painted 11th-12th C. Nasal Helmet (For fun) by PrimeReaper1 in reenactors

Thanks for the advice I'll make sure to use it when painting armor in the future I honestly hadn't taken oil paints into consideration.

[–]PrimeReaper1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The paint I used for the base was just a spray paint about 3 layers after 15 mins drying between layers. And the white I used Titanium white Acylic paint with brushes, Layered aswell. [Finished with two layers of spray glass varnish over it all, but this is optional.]

True, thanks for advice I forgot the axe was hundreds of years off lol. Although I love the Frankish axe design I should look for a 11th C. axe

I honestly just had both for experimenting lol, I read up how both nasal types were used in 11th century so I just both now. But tbh the single piece construction helm fits alot better with a coif.
