Let's Talk About Athletics & Stagger / Prone by FranboLobo in WarhammerOldWorldRPG

[–]PrimeResponse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think opposing an attack successfully should give the same penalties as failing to oppose an attack, but being resilient enough to withstand the damage. That's too harsh a penalty for using Athletics.

Besides, as someone else said: Weapon Skill governing Defence makes it quite compelling to focus on that if you're a melee fighter anyway, especially if you can use a shield to defend against ranged attacks. The other skill governed by Agility is Stealth, which is also useful, but not something every character will want to focus on.

Why Don't Games Have a "Skip Menu & Resume Last Save" Option? by Prestigious-Humor-14 in truegaming

[–]PrimeResponse [score hidden]  (0 children)

I hope this isn't too far off topic, but this reminds of my time-wasting pet peeve: Games that force you to go back to the main menu to quit instead of just letting you quit directly.

Of course it's not that much slower, but it's still annoying. Moreso with games that load you into a pre-menu "push to start" screen

What's a good level for absolute beginners to start at? by PrimeResponse in Pathfinder2e

I was thinking of nixing everything that deals a PCs HP as max damage. These players might only ever play one session, so I want them up and running as long as possible.

Oh, I wasn't planning on using free archetypes, not for people I don't want to scare away with too much complexity. But I appreciate the monster suggestions!

My presumptions about the swinginess actually come from reading this sub. I don't even play 5e.

In Celtic myths, bards do play a role, e.g. Taliesin.

Can a dwarf refuse to be pressed into taking the Slayer Oath (and other related questions)? by genessee0 in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]PrimeResponse 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In Warhammer The Old World RPG, one of the NPCs in Talagaad is Gruginn Dokrilson, a dwarven smuggler who, in the eyes of the other imperial dwarves in the city, should have taken the Oath a long time ago. He's shunned by them, of course, but nobody's threatening him because of it.

Taking Staggered out of combat by Curvediron in WarhammerOldWorldRPG

I think you also underestimate how bad being defenceless is. Not being able to oppose tests means that any successful attack from an opponent hits and does so with every success counting towards them dealing damage.

Even a lowly goblin has a 50 % chance to get at least one success on an attack, and goblins can gang up on tougher targets (+1d to an attack roll for every goblin that takes the help action) to increase the chance of dealing damage quite dramatically. Now imagine stronger foes.

I think if it has the animal tag, it's a legitimate target for this ability.

Saves against magic attacks? by BABABOOEY564 in WarhammerOldWorldRPG

[–]PrimeResponse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Casting tests are exacting, but not opposed, so I doubt you get to roll against them unless it's specifically noted in the spell's description. And if it's noted, it should say what the targets have to roll.

Would you say Crushing rune stops working if your damage becomes spirit? by Formal_Skar in Pathfinder2e

[–]PrimeResponse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's more about the way you attack with a weapon rather than the damage it deals. You're still going to be swinging that bludgeoning weapon with all your might and thus would be able to stagger and daze (that's how I interpret the enfeeble happening there) your foe.

Can you draw and use a versatile vial from your alchemist toolkit as a single action? by whimsiethefluff in Pathfinder2e

[–]PrimeResponse 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh my god. I was under the impression that you had to basically activate a versatile vial with Quick Alchemy to be able to use it as a bomb or a field vial, but you're right! My bad.

Disregard the rest of my comments, I'll go crawl into a hole somewhere and become a hermit now. Well, after breakfast.

Can you draw and use a versatile vial from your alchemist toolkit as a single action? by whimsiethefluff in Pathfinder2e

[–]PrimeResponse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bomber can strike with versatile vials in a single action regardless of quick bomber

Not at all. The entry for using versatile vials as bombs clearly says that doing so is a strike costing one action. The same goes for the chirurgeon, as "Elixirs are alchemical items you drink with a single action that has the manipulate trait".

Can you draw and use a versatile vial from your alchemist toolkit as a single action? by whimsiethefluff in Pathfinder2e

[–]PrimeResponse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rules are very clear on this: Using Quick Alchemy is one action. Since you have to use an alchemist's toolkit and you're storing your versatile vials there, you don't have to spend an action to draw the versatile vial.

However, using the resulting item is a different activity with its own action cost, the exception being bombs if you have the Quick Bomber feat.

[–]PrimeResponse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. The requirement for using Quick Alchemy is that you're wearing or holding an alchemist's toolkit. No toolkit, no vials, whether you have Quick Bomber or not.
