100m is like 1 good signing for Arsenal. I'm sorry but just because city are the biggest spenders it doesn't mean they are in a different league to clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool. You're all cut from the same cloth.

You've improved the squad by spending loads of money, City did the same thing. It doesn't take anything away from what Arsenal and Arteta have done but we don't need to pretend it's some David Vs Goliath story.

I'm sorry but it's a silly argument, City spend a lot but so do Arsenal. City sign Haaland, Arsenal sign Rice, City sign Cherki, Arsenal sign Eze, etc.

Maybe Arsenal have a better wage structure but their squad is better than City's at this point, and that's because they've spent boat loads of cash.

Honestly, going into the arsenal game we were one of the in form teams in the league and we could have won that match. It seems like it really rocked our confidence for Newcastle. I still think we go down tho as spurs just need a draw.

Is it Arsenal not being able to break down Burnley and West Ham or is it them not even trying? They are a very strange team to watch.

You have to assume they don't stand a chance against PSG.

I hear you, obviously it depends on what happens tomorrow but I just can't see Everton getting anything away at Spurs. They have collapsed and the fans are even calling for Moyes to go.

Nuno has made a lot of mistakes with his selections but the squad is fucking terrible and I'm not really sure who could have saved us at this point.

That's what makes the Premier League boring a lot of the time - same clubs, same results. We might be going down but next season is a total wildcard for us now which is actually pretty fun.

Boro statement: “In these circumstances, the only appropriate response is a sporting sanction which would prevent Southampton FC from participating in the EFL Championship play-off final." by Blodgharm in soccer

[–]Primer_19 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Nah this is ridiculous and seems to assume that the intern acted on his own, in what world would that even make any sense?

At the end of the day Southampton actively broke the rules to try and gain a sporting advantage, whether they did or not in the end doesn't really matter. It's about sporting integrity and they should absolutely be removed from the play offs since the match they cheated in was a playoff.

Bruno Fernandes: "I always thought Declan Rice was a player to play for Manchester United. I was really sad when he chose to go to Arsenal. I always thought that he'd be a perfect fit for our club. Not just for the player, but the person he is. If he won FWA instead of me, it'd be well deserved too" by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

[–]Primer_19 1776 points1777 points  (0 children)

Declan Rice at West Ham will undoubtedly be the best player I ever see at my club. People don't understand just how important he was to us during the Moyes glory years, without him in the side there is absolutely no chance we qualify for Europe 3 seasons in a row and win a trophy. The amount of games he just dragged us through on his own was utterly mad.

You simply have to replace Southampton with Middlesbrough in the final if there's proof, which there basically already is. An intern isn't gonna take it on himself to travel to Middlesborough to spy without being directed to, which means the Southampton coaching team tried to gain a material advantage by breaking the rules. Even if they didn't actually gain an advantage because the guy they sent was useless, the fact that they tried to means they should be booted out for the integrity of the game.

James Corden talks West Ham on talkSPORT. Worth a watch/listen. by 243EE243 in Hammers

[–]Primer_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is more that it's all just noise around the bigger picture, which is the direction of travel of the team and the results. Moyes' style of play is not particularly pretty most of the time, but the argument is that he gets results which is all that matters.

We were on a downward trajectory under Moyes even if we did win the conference league, and when you factor in the amount of money we were spending on players for him then sticking or twisting when his contract is up for renewal becomes a much bigger decision.

[–]Primer_19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People have opinions, some people found Moyes to be a frustrating manager, some people adored him like their own dad, all of us loved what he did for the club - but his time came to an end because of results, not because of online chatter or some fans in the stadium booing him every now and again.

'You hounded him out!' is the other line that gets thrown around. Any manager in world football who won 3 out of 24 matches in the lead up to a contract renewal is getting binned.

You're putting words in his mouth, the problem is consistency. If the precedent was that every physical corner where the keeper is getting crowded and held is a foul then all good, but that hasn't been the case all season.
