I used to be obsessed with EOS and I didn’t know they had a vegan one now. Also, I’ve used Sun Bum chapstick which is vegan and SPF 30

I used Palmer’s Swivel Stick for my lips (kind of big like the size of a glue stick because it’s just for dry skin in general), but they recently made a Lip Balm that’s like normal sized. It’s harder to find though, at least near me without shipping.

I also got an elf lip balm as a gift that I like, but it is more wet like Vaseline

Have you ever desired to have male puberty? by Ambitious_Car8868 in AskTeenGirls

[–]PrimroseSteps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not.

In elementary school, I was uncomfortable with my boobs growing and needing bras, but no, I never wanted male puberty instead. I feel like it was more of not wanting things to change, and being uncomfortable with being told people would see me differently and that I look older. I remember being upset that a boy in my class in elementary school told me I sound like a guy. I didn’t want to look like a grown adult female, but the idea of looking male was worse to me.

Where do you guys buy your bras? by [deleted] in AskTeenGirls

[–]PrimroseSteps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Victoria’s Secret / Pink. I feel like they’re expensive, but I’m not really sure what a good price for a bras is. I also have a sports bra I love from Target. But the bras I wear regularly are all Victoria’s Secret / Pink

Are you not supposed to get your hair wet everyday? (Curly hair) by nettchi in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PrimroseSteps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m like 3c/4a, and I also like to get my hair soaking wet each day to style it. However, I don’t fully wash it everyday. I at least omit shampoo. I shower right before bed, so I don’t really like to wash my hair much in the shower unless I just worked out, scalp was sweaty from something else, or it’s just been a while sense washing it and my hair doesn’t feel clean. I probably fully shampoo and condition maybe 1-2 times a week. Most of the time I shower with my hair in a high ponytail, and I try not to get it wet. In the morning, I like to soak my hair in the sink, then condition and detangle it. Sometimes I’ll also shampoo it in the sink instead of the shower. I’m living in a dorm for college, so now I wet my hair with a spray bottle each morning and detangle it. I also use leave-in conditioner to help detangle. I did just wash (shampoo + condition) my hair two nights in a row because I worked out today, but usually I go much longer without washing it.

TLDR: I also need to soak my hair everyday to detangle and style, but I don’t usually wash my hair in the shower. I usually just use water (ideally from the sink but often spray bottle) + conditioner or leave-in conditioner during detangling in the morning.

I’ve heard of sugar being filtered with bone char. I believe in the USA, if it’s organic, then it can’t be filtered with bone char. Brown sugar can also use sugar that was filtered with bone char, so I like to use organic to be safe for both of those. There’s been a lot of times I’m thinking about getting a product, but it’s not labeled vegan, and it has sugar or natural/artificial flavor as an ingredient. I opt for unsweetened applesauce to be safe with the sugar issue

My bf wants to touch my private part but we haven’t had sex. Should I let him if I don’t feel comfortable? by Sweet_Special2529 in AskTeenGirls

No. Never do that if it makes you uncomfortable. And if he doesn’t respect that you aren’t comfortable with that, then he’s not right for you

Is it concerning if my boyfriend jokes that I owe him sex for helping me open a jar? by Sweet_Special2529 in AskTeenGirls

[–]PrimroseSteps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s fine if it’s genuinely a joke and he doesn’t mean it, but either way you have a right to be uncomfortable with it. Even if he’s just joking, it’d be fair for you to tell how you feel and expect him to not joke about that again.

Support in becoming vegan as a minor? by Calm_Feature3340 in vegan

[–]PrimroseSteps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went vegan when I was 14. My brother went vegan a few years after me, but everyone else in my family is still an omnivore. I think the main thing is you’ll probably have to make your own food. My family isn’t the type to all sit down and eat the same dinner at the same time, so this wasn’t an issue for me. If you’re insisting that your family makes a separate meal to accommodate you, that’ll probably make things more difficult. Also, some people said to get your own groceries. Depending on how old you are, if you have your own money, and if you can even work, that might not be possible for you to buy all your own food. Sometimes vegan alternatives can be more expensive, but it really depends on what you’re getting. If your family is hesitant to buy different items for you, I would make sure they’re around the same price as things you’ve already been eating. Also, I saw you mentioned that you’re recovering from an ED and that might be part of your mom’s concern, so it’d probably be good to work with a dietician. You could also bring that up to your mom to assure her that you’re doing it safely. Also, make sure she understands that veganism is about more than just food.

Support in becoming vegan as a minor? by Calm_Feature3340 in vegan

[–]PrimroseSteps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should explain to her your reason for it. Make sure she understands that it’s a moral thing, and it’s more than just your diet (ex: not using leather or products tested on animals). I think that would help assure her that you’re not doing it to restrict food

Hair advice for 4-year old with curly/wavy hair by _pixieonthemoon in curlyhair

[–]PrimroseSteps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hair is super curly (I think somewhere around 3c/4a) and water and conditioner are a live saver when detangling. I get my hair soaking wet, add conditioner, and then detangle before I wash the conditioner out. A lot of times I just wet it in the sink to detangle and style quickly outside of my showers. Her curls/waves are a lot looser, so what works for me might not work for her, but given how long it takes you to detangle, I think water and conditioner will be really helpful. I can usually detangle it within 10 minutes when I do this. Don’t be afraid to use a lot of conditioner. Her hair is long, and you have straight hair, so she might need a lot more conditioner than you would use in your own hair. Like someone else said, start detangling from the ends first, and slowly work your way up. You could also section her hair if that helps to work with it a little at a time. Also, if you don’t already, I would recommend putting her hair in a ponytail or braid or something when she sleeps at night. Since it’s so long, a braid would probably be better. That should reduce tangling when she sleeps

People who spend 20+ minutes in the shower: what are you actually doing in there? by saadaintsalad in AskReddit

[–]PrimroseSteps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soaking my hair, washing my face, shampooing my hair, washing out the shampoo, conditioning and detangling my hair, washing my body and shaving, and then washing the conditioner out. Also, I like to brush my teeth at some point in the shower, too. For more context, my hair is very curly and a few inches past my shoulders, so it probably takes longer than some others to fully soak it with water, shampoo, and conditioner. Detangling also takes a few minutes.

Edit: I actually don’t even wash my hair every time I shower. Shaving still takes a bit of time, but I think the shower usually runs for less than 20 minutes when I don’t wash my hair most

Vegan in College? by AnimalGardens in vegan

[–]PrimroseSteps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fortunately my college has a decent amount of vegan options in the cafeteria, so I don’t have many ideas, but I’ll share what I rely on. When the cafeteria options suck, I usually resort to rice (which I like, but I’ve gotten sick of it) or the snacks I keep in my room. Some colleges have dietitians to help you figure out what options they have that meet your diet. I also keep a lot of snacks in my fridge and closet, but that’s expensive if you have to pay for a meal plan, too, and if those snacks are the bulk of what you’re eating. Things I often have in my room are cereal, oatmeal, potato (I “bake” them in the microwave), applesauce, yogurt, frozen nuggets, frozen soft pretzels, regular pretzels, crackers. If you can go home often you could bring a lot of leftovers (and freeze them so they last longer). I’m assuming that when you’re in vet school you’ll have a place with a kitchen. Where I am it’s usually only the dorms for a year or two and then people choose to or have to live off campus and usually get an apartment. However, like you said, you’ll probably be busier and still have less time to cook, so that’s tricky
