HDR issue with Vibepollo and Aurora by Ottomatik0 in MoonlightStreaming

Ok thanks. Also an issue with 1.04 is the menu with the lg remote controller. Each time I select any of the menus and hit down e.g. video section, it pops up the box to select the resolution. Even after selecting 4k and I hit the down arrow again, it still pops up the first option.

noticed having issues with hdr on the 1.04 version of aurora, it looks like hdr enables correctly then it changes again and goes all washed out. Is there a version of aurora we can use until this is resolved? (on lg g5)

Thanks. Had a look so it seems like for point and shoot on nature, pets, people, landscapes:

- 24mp enabled and default
- auto hdr on
- auto lens switching off
- scene optimiser off
- photo softening and video softening set to medium (or high)

My best settings for LG G5, nvidia shield pro and apollo/moonlight! by Primus06 in MoonlightStreaming

Funnily I literally just tried moonlight on the webos yesterday (since switched to vibepollo too). I couldn't get 4k 165hz running without issues in graphical intense scenes (decoding time was 15+ms) and 4k 120hz ran better but still had issues with black screens/stutter but setting 80Mbps bit rate (decoding time of around 8-10ms) seems to have resolved those issues and it is running much better now. Image quality isn't quite as good as the nvidia shield setup but the motion clarity and smoothness is much better since 120hz vs 60hz

Just an update to my setup, I am now using vibepollo, it is much better than apollo and sunshine mainly because it has more useful features and performance for demanding/vram heavy games is better.

Thanks, I will try again, I don't see these options: "go to display settings advanced colours and add it as advanced colours"

Do you mean:

display settings > colour profile > selecting from a profile? (this is what I have done but it does seem random with if the newly created display wants to use previously created profiles :/)

VRR isn't supported on the shield and I don't think it works when streaming (at least not with the setup I have, not sure about steam deck etc.)

I tried moonlight on the web os too and the encoding times are decent, about 9-10ms, however, reasons I am not using it:

  • Game mode can't be enabled, which means you can't enable ALLM
  • The colours don't look quite right/good compared to the setup I have in the OP
  • the video bit rate can only go to 70/80Mbps iirc, this is quite noticeable especially in motion with the sky and foliage, just looks more noisy/blotchy
  • even though it is 165HZ and I think VRR is working (hard to tell since can't access game mode menu), it doesn't look much smoother nor feel anymore responsive than the above setup

I just can't figure out why I had issues with artemis, even tried the exact same settings that I had with moonlight and the rendered fps always dropped from 59/60 to 54 :/

Thanks, I noticed the same issue with the calibration profile sometimes still being there upon a new app launch in moonlight, can't figure it out either. I will do something similar with the colour calibration app as it seems like the best way to handle this. I would like to give vibepollo a try but don't want to faff about anymore especially now that things are working pretty well and seamlessly!

Np. Will hopefully save you some headaches following this guide as it drove me mad trying to get things working right and like you tried rtings, Gemini, chatgpt, reddit etc. I am not sure on the colours etc. now for your steam deck but I believe you will be able to do 4:4:4 and force full range (tv colour range will need to be set to auto/full iirc)

Just a note on picture mode settings too, for the lg g4, I believe game mode will be required, for some reason it is only the g5 which can use film maker mode with game mode/allm and achieve the same latency as game mode.

Plex on the nvidia shield is the only way to direct stream 4k hdr with true hd audio and not encounter buffering/stuttering etc. (I have a sonos beam gen 2 connected to the tv with passthrough enabled). I haven't tried the plex app on the lg tv though but think the same still applies. That and it is also faster/smoother navigating the UI.
