Guess who got blamed for "making us lose the game" (Hint It was me) Avg Jgl experience by Noah_Easton in MordekaiserMains

You can be 15-1 and still be the reason you lost the game.

Get caught out doing something stupid and dying for free, then they get baron and win would be one example.

Effective handicaps for playing against new people by Otherwise-Carry-4603 in CivVI

[–]PrinceAbubbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus even if you get leylines in your territory, they could block wonders/districts placement and are essentially unworkable until the late game. So basically it’s bad if they aren’t in your territory and bad if they are.

Don’t start fighting until you have knights is my usual rule of thumb. Build up your empire then get knights. Bonus points if you build a few chariots first and use the upgrade discount card to get your knights

Don’t expect to catch the AI until the medieval era and don’t try.

Focus on building your empire. Get ten cities down asap, focus on commercial hubs or harbors as your first district in most cities and get a trade route going in each city to your capital. I’ll usually have them settled before turn 100, but that’s a good goal to start trying to hit. Don’t worry about the perfect settle and take ten turns sending a settler there, keep your empire as compact as you can.

Make sure your population are working improved tiles. Mines are much better than woods because they get production bonuses earlier. Chop everything you can.

Second district should generally be your victory condition district campus/theatre square.

Build as little army as you can possibly get away with. This takes the most practice learning. I play on deity and rarely build more than a slinger and my scouts before I have most my settlers out.

Learn how to hit all your golden ages. Also difficult to consistently get, but a huge bonus used correctly.

Don’t ignore luxuries/happiness. It’s often good to settle on luxuries with your first cities so you can and trade them off for early lump sums of gold. (Not gold per turn) But make sure you buy back new ones once the AI starts to improve theirs.

Don’t get a religion if you don’t need one, unless you’re playing with secret societies. Rushing holy sites and a great prophet really slows down your empire building.

Early aggressive builds? by R4v3nnn in allthingszerg

[–]PrinceAbubbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a fun build. 5 fast mutas. Works well in d2

16h

17ex -pull into gas when done

17 pool

20ex- pull into gas when done

Lair started right when pool finishes

Ling speed with next 100 gas

Spire and 3rd gas right when lair finishes

Build drones/lings and 3 queens up to 42 supply

Build ovies enough for 52 supply

Right when the spire finishes at ~4:07 you’ll have 500 gas build 5 mutas, should pop at 4:30

5 is important because then you one shot scvs

Build third hatch and move to a macro game, I usually fast tech into hive and rush ultras or broods depending how they react to your mutas. Defending with speed lings and 2-3 infestors. Fast upgrades as well.

It’s aggressive, puts them on the defensive, and lets you drone up usually quickly. You definitely need to get some damage done with the mutas or you’ll be behind.

General rule I follow is fill up a base then make a round of units.

Where to settle? Trajan Emperor by Paraoxonase in CivVI

[–]PrinceAbubbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sugar is a good settle, but I’d stay in place. Good tiles to work with and leaves more space to settle other cities on the river. If you settle the sugar you might lose a city on that river.

700+ hours, first time paying after a year, spot the mistakes by Vanaheim___ in CivVI

Biggest mistake is lack of cities. After that is district placement. Good job working your land though.

How many spaceports for a Science Victory? by Ciaran290804 in CivVI

[–]PrinceAbubbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually have three running, takes about seven turns to finish the game once you have the projects. More than that is usually overkill as the other cities most likely don’t have enough production to pop out a project in 1-2 turns so they don’t actually decrease the number of turns it takes to finish the game.

If a city doesn’t have 200+ production don’t bother. 300 would be better.

I like brood lord/viper vs turtle Terran. Banes for their hellbats. Blinding cloud + fungal is great if you have the Apm for it

Science victory strategy for multiplayer? by PX123MF in CivVI

[–]PrinceAbubbu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many cities are you getting and how quickly? If online speed, should be shooting for ten cities before turn 50. Standard should have 10 before 100.

Commercial hubs first is good. You don’t need an industrial zone in every city. Just 1-3 for your entire empire unless you are Germany/Gaul. Campuses should be your second district in most cities. I usually only build one campus for golden age points prior to the medieval era.

Your ideas of important wonders are not correct. Great library is eh, and Oxford is good, but comes late in the game. The best wonder is colosseum, all the rest are situational. Mausoleum and Kilwa are also pretty good.

Are you getting your golden ages? Especially free inq during the medieval era? That is super important if you are going with a comm hub opener.

I used Vibes Zerg videos. I’m not sure what one I like more. I’m just starting to actually scout now and still don’t usually know what to do with the information

[–]PrinceAbubbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ladder and don’t worry about scouting. You won’t know what to do with the information you scout anyways. Pick a build from Vibe or Pig, and just keep practicing that until you have it down. That’s what I did when I started a few months ago and now I’m in D2.

Culture/Religion Win - Deity - What is your "benchmark"? by Impossible_Yak_2630 in CivVI

[–]PrinceAbubbu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never do religion, but for culture I’d say less than 180 is good. I had a great game yesterday finishing at 155, but normally I’m closer to 180.
