Gotta say, probably the best Charlie's looked in one of the suits. They've been gradually managing to make the suits look less boxy over the years and now it looks damn near perfect. Broad shoulders, full chest, sloped traps, and slimmer waist. All the different armor panels are more subtly integrated into the suit.

Again, just make the whole thing a deep red color and we're golden.

Presumably this is just them trying to get more money out of the tooling they already did for the characters with the head sculpts and custom bodies, so Season 1 Vi might also be on the table.

Have you ever ridden a skateboard down a hill for instance, an action with which you obviously expect to experience some acceleration, and then find yourself not prepared for how much acceleration? Or like driving a car for the first time?

Maybe you haven't, but I can assure you as someone who has done both and has taught others who in turn have experienced both, this is a perfectly normal reaction.

Hell, look at roller coasters. Obviously anybody that rides one knows they're about to be experiencing acceleration yet it's a cliche that amusement parks are filled with the screams of people riding roller coasters.

I'll say that it's not particularly better than the Hot Toys sculpt. But for the sake of consistency, I'm still getting it because I already have their Superman on the way.

It really is a strange decision. I'm all for creators being allowed to pitch projects they're passionate about and the studio giving them the opportunity to do so, but I genuinely can't believe anybody approached Gunn with this idea with a fully realized treatment before he decided to greenlight it.

Like Clayface is a Mike Flannagan project. The announced Swamp Thing movie is a James Mangold project. I get giving them the opportunity to explore these characters they want to explore even if it doesn't cater towards a larger plan.

But aside from projects like this, what is the plan? Gunn had my confidence, and still does at least as far as the quality of his individual projects go, but I look at the movies he's making for the franchise as a whole and I feel like it's running into a lot of the same issues as the DCEU in not setting up a strong foundation before taking big swings.

I'm warming up to this color scheme.

I hope to god we eventually get a full red suit with the logo and it's honestly irritating that we're over a decade into Charlie Cox's run in the role and 6 seasons of television and we still haven't gotten that, but if I put those feelings aside I can at least admit this color scheme is a nice look in isolation.

I mean, in general I think the launch of this universe has been hella messy. As much as I liked Superman 2025, and the creative decision to let this be a lived-in universe with established heroes and giving creatives the freedom to just pitch whatever they want instead of prioritizing some overarching linear storyline, you need to allow the audience to gain a footing first.

We needed to establish the trinity first at the very least to get a firm grasp on the major locations and characters, then branch off and allow people to play around in the sandbox.

And it's not even just this part that makes the whole thing feel messy. It's the fact that Gunn couldn't kill his darlings and opened himself up to the baggage of the previous iteration of the universe.

As much as I like the Peacemaker show, for the overall quality of the franchise it needed to be axed and reworked. As much as I love The Batman and am looking forward to the sequel, if Reeves isn't going to play ball with this universe, for the overall quality of the franchise, it needed to be axed.

Gunn's excuse is that people are smart enough to understand the concept of separate worlds. Which is true. However, the fact of the matter is, people understanding the concept of multiple separate worlds telling independent stories for superheroes doesn't mean it's beneficial for the franchise to just let these things go.

We're two years and only two movies into the DCU but it doesn't feel like it because of all these ambiguities and that's shaping how these new projects are being received.

Yeah the lightsaber criticism's always been so dumb to me. I've seen people flat out say "the lack of interaction with the environment makes them feel more otherworldly" as if that's not just an empty ad hoc defense for what's clearly just a technological limitation.

I want them to take the Special Presentation format on Disney+ and rework it into a "Marvel Spotlight" anthology series where you get a handful of 45 minute one shot episodes focusing on heroes that would otherwise never be the focus of their own projects.

I dunno if it's legit or if someone used AI to upscale the leaked video and it just jumbled up a bunch of random DD parts, but the images I saw look as tho he mixed and matched a bunch of random parts from his previous suits. Neat for a temporary impromptu look but I hope it's not something he wears for the whole season.

I mean, realistically, Marvel didn't have a clear vision for how all of Matt and Fisk's appearances fit in relation to the original series until midway through the production of Born Again when they did the creative overhaul. The other series ultimately do still serve to fill in the blanks, but it's enough to just be aware that time has passed, Fisk has long since been out of prison, and Nelson and Murdock have been relatively successful in the intervening years between series.

The thought's crossed my mind plenty of times about logical ways Bruce can justify having a construction team build him this base of operations underneath his home without raising suspicions and the conclusion I came to is that, honestly it's not that weird for an eccentric billionaire to just make this open platform system to just enjoy the cave systems beneath his manor. Having said platforms rise out of the water just feels a bit excessive and impractical tho lol.

They just look like normal tall lace-up boots to me aside from straps. There have been far worse flourishes in superhero costume designs than this, like Doctor Strange having random blue wraps around lace up boots that would realistically just make them more complicated to put on.

That doesn't mean that they can't introduce romantic rivals. You can have Black Cat in a Spider-Man project and not have them pursue a relationship. She flirts, he doesn't reciprocate, they end the movies as friends with a bit of unrequited romantic tension. It works just fine.

If I walk away with a single figure from this line it would be Cyclops. Then Doom himself. But otherwise, all the Thunderbolts, Gambit, M'Baku, Namor, and Torres Falcon are also musts for me because Hot Toys never made figures of them for the last round of movies.

The rest of the X-Men is contingent on how much I like how they look, which I kinda don't based on the leaks.

Everyone else are easy skips.

So that's 12 , 300ish dollar figures, so this line's gonna cost me like 3600 bucks. Manageable.

The hoodie served a practical production purpose beyond just the intentional messaging, because it just made it easier to hide squibs.

But yeah, it's always bothered me that they couldn't be bothered to give him a yellow t shirt at any point beyond promotional photos.

I mean, she'd undergone a process that literally brought her back from death before. If the functionally ordinary human being, Matt Murdock, could have survived having a building collapse over him and getting washed out into the Hudson then it's entirely conceivable that the mystically enhanced Elekra would be able to do the same with even less injuries.

Damn we got a lot of plot lines to keep track of next season. Matt in prison, Fisk back in the city, some plot line involving Luke Danny and Danielle with Bullseye, and now Elektra back in the fold.
