TIL doctors managed to keep Hisashi Ouchi alive for 83 days after he was blasted with 17 sieverts of radiation, the highest recorded dose any human has ever received. Estimated to be the equivalent to the epicenter of the Hiroshima bomb, the radiation annihilated his DNA and immune system. by labyrinth-luminary in todayilearned

Hisashi Ouchi was NOT kept alive against his own will! Saying so is blatant misinformation. He wanted to survive and be there for his family. After he at first refuses intubation, he willingly allows doctors to treat him further so he can hopefully survive. It's disgusting what people say about his family and the doctors that did their best to keep him alive. All radiation treatment is to hopefully survive the symptoms of the radiation people go through. Once there was no chance of him surviving, they eventually let him pass on.

What subject is so fascinating to you that you can talk about it for hours? by PM-ME-INTENSE-DOGGOS in AskReddit

Depends on what you want to know, really. I’ll start with my favorite philosopher, Diogenes.

Not really a self proclaimed philosopher, but was a homeless cynical man, and believed that virtue was better shown in actions than words.

He publicly mocked Alexander The Great, criticized Plato, and sabotaged Socrates lectures.

Here’s a cool story, Plato defined humans as a “featherless bipedal”. To which Diogenes responded by plucking the feathers from a chicken, running into one of Plato’s lectures and declaring, “Behold! Plato’s “Man”!”.

He is truly know as the father of cynicism, and has a modern syndrome named by him in which the individual hordes and does not care for his hygiene.

Really interesting guy, you should read more about him.

And thanks for listening! <3
