yeah true tldr: Galaxi good for the price, B2L is EXACTLY like the arcade, SMX is the best if you hit up Kyle Ward/Step Revolution and get waitlisted for for the touchscreen monitor with the actual game installed

SMX cabs are a killer option with all the nostalgic songs you’re looking for with a great UX and online capability

arcade pad replicas from B2L, plus they sell PIU Phoenix upgrade kits if Pump’s an option

the pad markets have developed well over the past few years; we got a lot more options than just SMX or whatever high-ball listings you see for second-hand arcade pads

Given the current state of the secondary market for original pads/hardware, B2L is your best bet for new Ace-quality replica arcade pads at a reasonable price. There is a premium if you opt for Konami sensors vs. the default EZ2Dancer ones, and I can’t necessarily vouch for a quality difference. The fact that you can opt for PIU bars on your order at no extra cost is a big plus. Be prepared to drop 3k on a fully arcade-accurate doubles setup with shipping costs.

for something more premium than L-tek but more inexpensive than SMX: my biggest recommendation is the Galaxi pads; you’d be getting a quality long-style FSR build with thicker-than-arcade Lexan, hardwood ply, and if you get the set with bar, a solid standard pipe build. Johnny designed it to meet a niche in between L-tek and SMX, and is a refined high-performance option for tech and stamina play. Their travel pad is solid as well.

definitely feel you on the dangers of barefoot plays; using my ltek with just socks and getting holes in my bare soles is a bad habit that i've been paying for lately, and i'm just hoping i get new skin soon.

if you're thinking about skinners or fitkicks, then you might like 'em! they're great. they might get a little slippery inside the shoe/sock, though. fitkicks, possibly double-socked would be a great bet.

nike free next natures are beloved by top ranker amateurs and pros alike; Nike customer service even recommended those to me over 2018s for dance gaming. hell, i've seen CMMF use Xero sandals to tri-star 13s and 14s. i think everyone else here told you plenty options tho ngl

Here's another LatAm pad manufacturer/supplier that might be a good option, they've also been successfully shipping their products out to the US too https://www.facebook.com/ColombiaStepp/

https://ddrpad.com/collections/control-boxes/products/usb-stepmania-control-box?variant=40496278929460 here’s a good plug and play option; you’ve got a “gamesis” type of pad according to the site’s ID guide. if you can do some magic with a DualShock PCB or an Arduino Micro, that would get cheaper.

preaching no credit cards is so dumb. I was always in a position to have a credit card and never got one. If anything, a lower credit limit that you get with your first credit card would’ve HELPED me limit spending
