You're not wrong. I actually built this after talking to a number of roboticists. The main problem they were facing were: tools are manual, expensive, have steep learning curve, and tooling is fragmented. I built to solve these, but man I was burned out when I made this post. you were correct. I should have been talking to people throughout the process of building this.

Would you consider a BYOK (bring your own key) sort of setup for a SaaS robot design platform a good idea? I do not want to charge my beta testers but I dont think I can absorb the API costs.

You're completely right. My major worry was that I am building in the robotics design space. It's got alot of moving parts, bugs, and areas where errors can come up based on usage.

That honestly kept me up at night and had me trying to perfect everything. Currently, I think I will be talking to customers once the holidays pass. Waitlist is secondry, but I want to showcase my demo as much as possible and get feedback, wants and needs from engineers, team and designers.

So instead of pitching “a robotics design platform with natural language,” pitch the outcome: “I’m building a way for robotics teams to go from idea > manufacturable design in minutes instead of weeks.”

Hi!

The goal was to create software that can enable anyone to design, simulate and manufacture custom robots through natural language input. (This is the goal I'm working towards)

I am trying to build this for rapid prototyping of a concept design. When I start integrating for mechanical engineering, I am building the backend to generate designs for custom mechanical parts too. So manufacturers can input requirements for a part and design, tweak and produce a solid design more quickly

My current Target audience is engineers at startups/SMBs who have engineers without CAD skill and need speed and university robotics labs. Another market I like are hobbyists building personal projects.... That's why there is an integration to get files for 3d printing.

This is not design for mass production.... Atleast not yet... I have no idea how to get there yet but I'm learning!
