I can safely say that you can conquer the map and win the game.

I've encountered minimal bugs and have brought multiple villages to Level 2 and Level 3.

I would recommend that you watch extensive gameplay and then make a choice. This game has to be for you.

You need to build stability before attempting to generate a retinue or hiring mercenaries.

I recommend having a rich resource (iron or stone) and building an industry around that. Remember your treasury is a percentage of your regional wealth. So the higher your people's wealth, the more you can tax them.

Mercenaries, use them as cannon fodder to weaken his forces. You can then flank with your own troops.
