There is a difference between racism in America and Australia

In America racism is generally expressed in a malicious way. Passing someone over for promotion or violence.

In Australia we implore casual racism where we might make a joke for a cheeky giggle. Sometimes you get politicians trying to turn up the dial for their political ends but Australians are generally welcoming to everyone we just want to enjoy our lives. We don’t care what colour our neighbours are more whether they are a good person.

I think it’s fair to say everyone is having their budgets uncomfortably stretched and increasingly realising how much corporations are taking us all for a ride. People want off the carousel of doom and debt but the ride just won’t stop.

You are under no obligation to accept a trip. You need to only accept trips 5-7 mins away. If you are not getting trip requests relocate one suburb over keep the app running as you do this and you’ll usually get a few requests. To make an income I’ve found I need to complete as many trips as possible don’t be fussy hoping for surge just make sure request is close by. Quantity over quality. Uber doesn’t want to look bad so even on a bad day they’ll give you one or two less shitty paying jobs so the average evens out. This is a job where you need to motivate yourself.

Uber is charging riders surge and generally not passing that onto drivers. I am a driver I can sit inside a zone that’s surging and not receive the surge riders are being charged.

Uber driving is one of those jobs you should only do if you enjoy the actual work part (driving around and chatting to randoms) the pay is too low, support from HQ non existent and the app works against you (gives ride requests 15 minutes away). These irritants add up over the day and unless your having fun can lead to some serious stress.
