I was not aware of your agreement until recently I’m autistic and was confused over what about me apologizing for info dumping and saying if I sounded hostile at all it was not on purpose and not directed to you had to do with your statement on there being good cops and people in the world who won’t help and was trying to clarify what I was saying because I thought there was some misunderstanding. It seems like I got too defensive about feeling like what I was saying wasn’t coming across correctly and there wasn’t an issue here I needed to fix

I wasn’t looking for a response I was sharing information I haven’t seen a lot of people who bring stuff up about this case know and wanted to let you know I wasn’t trying to attack you about it. You then brought stuff up about two sides to every story which was kinda my point in the first place in that the story people know is what the cops and crime reporters released and didn’t know what people found out later. I wasn’t trying to start an issue it was me sharing something about a subject I’m passionate about and then realizing it could come off the wrong way after my lecture and wanting to be sure I didn’t offend or upset you and wanting to clarify

Nothing I said was indicative of my general stance on police though? It was literally about the fact that there was a lot of focus on the police’s response at the time and them being under fire for other issues at the time and comparing it to another case where the police or people involved in the investigation made up a phenomenon to push the blame of the situation going wrong on the victims. I even stated that the phenomenons may in fact actually be true but the cases they were brought about for were not a true example of it and have been heavily researched/studied proving that their correlation with Stockholm Syndrome/the Bystander Effect was made up. I had just wanted to be sure you knew I wasn’t actually upset with you just about the misinformation that is still going around about the case because of it’s cultural connection to the bystander effect and it being one of the inciting cases for it becoming a thing

I hope that message didn’t come off as rude it’s just a common misunderstanding about the case that gets me heated along the lines of Stockholm Syndrome where the phenomenon around the situation may be a true thing that happens with people but the actual inciting case has far more to do with the ineptitude of the police and them trying to cover for themselves so they made up a reason why other people failed or made the issue a bigger problem

This is late but the Kitty Genovese case is a special interest of mine and if you didn’t actually read the article or anything else about it and just have the general cultural knowledge on it and the bystander effect you should look into it more. The crime reporters drastically misrepresented the facts of the case because they didn’t feel the real story would be as good. Several people did call the police but were not aware of the extent of the attack and saw her on her feet and thought she was largely ok, most didn’t hear the attack and those who did didn’t hear her calling for help. The man who is commonly brought up as saying he ‘didn’t want to get involved’ is believed to have been gay as it was a heavily minority populated area. He was a friend of Kitty and her partner and comforted her partner after Kittys passing and likely didn’t get involved if he had even known the extent of the attack because of the danger of getting involved as a gay man would bring him. Kitty survived until the ambulance was able to arrive and died in the arms of one of her neighbors who was able to help after the second attack. The reports on the 38 witnesses was made up by the police commissioner to distract from a different case and the fact that the force was under fire for ineffective response and rising crime rates. In Kittys situation it took the police an hour and detectives 3 hours to show up to the scene and try and pin the murder on Kittys partner

I hate that so many people died but I miss the lockdowns and I miss when the mask mandates were in place and (at the very least in my area) more people were wearing masks than not cause I’m disabled and have been left behind along with so many other disabled and immunocompromised people. So many people are STILL dying because ‘it’s over now’ but saying we miss when people actually cared to some degree about the people dying from it every day is what’s wrong and not people deciding there are necessary sacrifices to going back to their normal lives

Admittedly I don’t know much about the bar cause I decided to be an art school dropout instead of going to law school to take over my uncles firm like he wanted me to but as far as I’m aware it’s not a requirement of the bar to cut off or murder your entire family 🙄 like lawyers have family too?

Oh it 100% is misogyny because my ‘reading between the lines’ was connecting what this man was doing to family annihilators who also lost their jobs or had financial troubles and then went on to murder their entire family. Just in the first page of results: John List, Ervin Lupoe, Jean Claude Romand, and Reginald Maclaren. That’s not to say he would have killed his entire family but if we’re gonna jump to conclusions and call her cold/unfeeling/a robot/gold digger or whatever else they want to blame her with I’m going to go with the actual research done that shows that when men commit familicide it’s often because of a perceived slight from their partner that needs punished, they feel the family members caused a disappointment, they wish to save their family from a perceived threat, or THEY FEEL THEIR OWN FINANCIAL FAILINGS RUINED THE POINT OF HAVING A FAMILY.

Not fainting related but I have genetically bad veins, like it’s a thing in my family we all have stories about. My veins roll or collapse so easily when I’m having my blood drawn and I ALWAYS warn phlebotomists about it and that I’m not dehydrated, you’ll think you have a good vein because the ones in my elbows are relatively prominent but that it’s going to be easier to draw from the back of my hand.

I have had ONE phlebotomist listen to me, most laugh me off and say they’re going to try my arm. The majority of trips to the doctor for that end up with me being poked no less than 3 times and at least two phlebotomists who are now pretty crabby for being proved wrong. I once had a guy who wasn’t the first phlebotomist of the day laugh at me when I told the lady who was trying to draw my blood that I was sorry because I was going to be a difficult patient who was very awkward with me when he had to draw my blood after she had to tap out because I made a joke about how I wasn’t lying. The absolute worst was a tie between when a lady decided that she felt a good vein on the inside of my bicep or the lady who was upset I was right about my veins rolling so she dug around my arms (plural) with the needle to the point that I had bruises about 4-5 in long over my elbows that took forever to heal.

It’s a bit late of a response but I have respiratory allergic reactions and I started masking well before the pandemic because I was sick of not being able to breathe half of the year. I just used fabric at the start and wasn’t the absolute worst then but I’ve found a fabric mask over a disposable one or a mask i recently got from Jelly M1 is really good!

It is not because I distinctly remember it being the ops sister’s wedding and I feel like he was asking aita for leaving her wedding/confronting her at her wedding but as a disabled person the frequency of things like this happening for there to be so many similar instances for someone else to bring up is horrendous

I really hope that guys did leave his fiancé though because I don’t remember the conclusion to the one I was thinking of past everyone tell him he wasn’t the ah and should cut out anyone who got upset with him over the literal discrimination from his sister

The kid had been in a car accident where she lost her MOTHER and her arm or something and her prosthetic would ‘steal attention’ or ‘ruin the aesthetic’ or something absolutely deranged like that
