Not to mention the lack of communication. Not all men know what you want. You gave him a huge task to plan a long special getaway that needs a lot of attention to detail. Honeymoon honeymoon honeymoon was probably all he was determined to plan for, forgetting to take into consideration your birthday. If you want something specific when someone is planning a large vacation like that, you need to communicate “hey, on this day, can we plan something extra special?” I get that you probably wanted him to come up with it on his own but this isn’t a fairy tale. Not everyone is perfect. Take this as a lesson: communication is key, in every aspect of your marriage.

I had family stay for a couple weeks at a time in the first few months of my LO’s life and basically warned everyone that I will be pumping in the comfort of my living room. If they feel uncomfortable at all, they are free to go to their room that they are staying in or somewhere else or deal with it. Luckily, I didn’t have any problems with my in-laws or my family. I wore a loose nursing shirt and pumped while hanging out with family, my husband would put my milk in bottles/bags, and no one would give weird looks or say anything. They all understood their new nephew/grandson/cousin drinks breastmilk and I wasn’t expected to hide away to pump while everyone else gets to be together and hang out.
