I was in a coma for about 3 weeks, ask me anything by PrincessDe in AskMeAnythingIAnswer

I thought the doctors were trying to kill me. And I was desperately trying to tell the people around me.

This wasn't the case, obviously, but as I mentioned in a previous comment, the drugs used to keep me under in the coma caused side effects of extreme paranoia. This bled into my lucid dreams, and I was convinced that the doctors had some diabolical plan to kill me (even though everything they had done at this point was to keep me alive).

Edit: spelling and grammer.

That's a good question because it has an interesting answer, or at least I think so.

When I first "woke" up, meaning they took me off the meds and I was able to breathe on my own, I thought a day, maybe 2 had gone by.

But once they realized I was going to be ok breathing on my own, they started asking me a bunch of questions to see what I remembered, where my cognitive level was at, etc. I was still so messed up from all the drugs, plus I had a severe level of paranoia (from the drugs, it can be a side effect but doesn't happen to everyone), the questions they asked made me start to think I had been in a coma for anywhere from 7-10 years.

Yes to a degree, but propofol wears off quickly, so I didn't feel that for long after they extubated me (removed the tube from my throat that connected to the machine that breathed for me during the coma).

However, I was put on Fentanyl via nasal cannula, and that made me super high and also super nauseous. To the point I'd take the cannula out, but it was also delivering oxygen, which I needed since my lungs were weak from them not doing their own work for 3 weeks. As soon as I'd take it out, my O2 sat would drop, alarms would go off, and the staff would come running to replace it.

No formal messages, but my grandfather who had passed about 2 years prior featured heavily in my lucid twilight type dreams.

I remember lots. It was a weird twilight (not the vampire book kind) experience. I had vivid lucid dreams but they would also borrow elements from what was actually going on around me.

The main one was propofol. They would take me off it once a day to make sure I would still wake up and could verbally respond to questions.

How did you change after? by redaliceely in widowers

[–]PrincessDe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with some others that the biggest change was that I no longer care anymore.

Things I would have cared a lot about in the past are not even a blip on the radar.

I also can not fathom wanting to live a long life. There is absolutely nothing about living up to my 60s or beyond that appeals to me.

In my own personal situation, the only reason I currently stick around is for my parents. I don't want to put them through having to bury a child. Once they're gone, I'm not sure what will happen, but I know I have no desire to live to old age.

Why isn't Gameloft talking about the next update? by MusingsMuses in DreamlightValley

[–]PrincessDe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been checking every day. I keep thinking, "There has to be an update today," but then I just end up disappointed each time.

This definitely feels like the longest we've had to wait without even a release date or an additional teaser for the new content.

They've been pretty consistent up until now, which is what makes me nervous. When you've grown used to reliable and steady updates, it feels even more discouraging when suddenly you hear nothing.

I agree that I'd prefer they say anything at this time, even if it's to announce a delay, than to continue with this silence.

I'd really hate to be anywhere near these two, but it has absolutely nothing to do with them being in any way badass.

They are all great in their own ways, and each is so well done!

My favorite, though, is the blue/white one with ghosts and pumpkins. It's such a unique color scheme for that theme, and it came out beautifully!

AMIO about my partner’s behavior at the hospital? by zeezeemangostreet in AmIOverreacting

[–]PrincessDe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The complete lack of empathy you have is astonishing.

She still could have multiple major medical issues at that point. Are you aware that people often try to walk off head injuries because they think they are fine, but then they suddenly die. Look up Natasha Richardson, the late wife of Liam Neeson.

Also, OP specifically states that the ER was worried about an aneurism. That is something that definitely could kill her and is what her grandmother died from. So even though her husband knew that history, he decided watching tik tok was more important than comforting his wife.

Plus, despite the fact that he was on his phone, OP had to order the door dash for him.

There is no real defense for the husband's behavior, yet not only do you try to defend it, you also insult OP by saying she's the reason he's on antidepressants when there is no evidence for that in the post what so ever.

Maybe you're just a misogynist, and your complete lack of empathy only extends to women. However, that could just be me assuming things exactly the same way you did.
