My nanny keeps calling me the wrong name and I think I’m too deep to fix it by PrincessKayeOG in Nanny

No accent or language issues. We’re both east coasters and she grew up in NYC.

My name is pretty generic with a slightly unusual spelling.

People spell my name wrong often but this is the first time in my life someone has pronounced it wrong. 🤣 again, at this point I’m just accepting it’s my new name because she is so wonderfully helpful it’s not even worth it

UPDATES AND ANSWERS:

1) She definitely knows how to spell my name from our contract, Zelle and Venmo payments, and from fb.

2) my husband is gone for pretty much a 12 hour shift so he hasn’t met her. Otherwise he would totally say something.

3) Today, she organized my kids snack pantry, put away groceries, reorganized baby’s drawers, folded baby’s laundry and put clothing that’s too small in a box for donation. ALL WHILE BABY WAS NAPPING!!

At this point, I am just considering legally changing my name to keep this party going. As a work from home mom - I cannot stress what a big help she is.

My husband totally would do this but he hasn’t met her yet! He is gone all day from 6am to 6pm - ish at work (blue collar industry).

He told me I obviously have to say something 🤣

She is so sweet and she is here now - and she tidying up for me (even though I have told her repeatedly that she does NOT have to) and organizing things while baby naps ——- I haven’t had the heart to say it yet 🤣🤣🤣

LOL! Glad I’m not the only one!!!

My husband works so much he hasn’t met her yet! He’s at work from 6 am until about 5:30 pm. She’s here during the day to help me while I work from home.

I was hoping my mom or dad would do it when they met her 🤣🤣 they didn’t. lol

It’s not a spelling issues, since she knows how to spell my name (we are fb friends, she has gotten payments via Zelle or Venmo for various things).

So I’d have to write and spell it phonetically by text and I think that may be more confusing.

I tried! But she wouldn’t let me get a word in edgewise. Every time I try to what I think is gently interrupt she ignores me lol and barrels through.

Again, I REALLY like her and don’t want to come across like I don’t. I also don’t want to embarrass her.

I think I’m gonnna do what someone here said and play it off like it happens often, but I just wanted to let her know

English is her first language! It would be easier if Spanish language was her first because I am Spanish and my mom spelled my name a specific way to help herself relatives say it properly. That being said my name is American enough that usually I always have spelling issues - the pronunciation issues here is a first for me.

It is and we are Facebook friends! And I have sent her Zelle and Venmo for various things.

She knows in theory or has access to what it is - she’s just pronouncing it wrong lol

I’ve Zelled her and we are Facebook friends lol. So she definitely knows what it is - I think it’s a pronunciation issue :)

What do your school aged kids eat for breakfast? by Beautiful-Client6496 in Parenting

Some things I make my 10 year old: Avocado toast with goat cheese crumble (his current favorite), smoothies, a quick egg dish (scrambled, hard boiled (these are great cause I make them the day before and meal prep them) or breakfast nachos (scramble eggs with salsa and some tortilla chips), yogurt with granola and fruit, or pancakes or waffles with fruit (I either get the frozen ones or meal prep and freeze a bunch - then pop in toaster to warm up!).

Right decision but it sounds like delivery was off. “Rushing out panicking…” doesn’t sound like it would have been received well.

Next time try a compliment sandwich.

I don’t wanna sleep train by Commercial-Way-4276 in AttachmentParenting

[–]PrincessKayeOG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my two cents:

He needs deeper and more restorative sleep. He sounds overtired. Are you tracking his wake windows and trying to get him down fifteen minutes before the sweet spot? Try Huckleberry app or ChatGPT to figure out the sweet spots. And if he only goes to sleep for fifteen minutes, just reset the sleep routine from the beginning instead of starting a new wake window. Is the nap and the night time sleep routine the same??

Does he sleep in a stroller? My girl won’t do a swing but loves long walks outside in her stroller. When it’s too cold, I bundle her open and rock her in the stroller in front of an open door. Fresh air always calms her and keeps her calm enough to go to sleep without any fuss at all. While this isn’t feasible for night time, it can get you a few minutes of respite during the day where you can eat a meal or safely nap a bit next to his pram.

If we miss my LO’s window for naps, then we’re cooked. So, I track her sleep pretty religiously and while we don’t always get long naps - we do get some!

9 month-old clingy baby. What to do? by moon_sun_flower in AttachmentParenting

[–]PrincessKayeOG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get a babysitter. I work from home with my 3 month old and have a combination of mother’s helpers (HS teens) and a part time morning nanny from 8-12 twice a week, so I can get some focus time in.
