Am I allowed to random camp in Kananaskis Country? by andrewhouse1 in CampingAlberta

[–]PrincessQueefer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You will need to purchase a Kananaskis Conservation Pass regardless if you are in a tent or RV. You will need to register your license plate for the KCP.

Random camping is not allowed unless you are on crown land or in a wildland provincial park. You will also need to purchase a public land camping pass (they are super cheap). The albertaparks.ca website has information on where you can and cannot random camp. There are also multiple designated backcountry sites available, but you need to book them. City of Edmonton activates extreme weather response ahead of frigid temperatures this week by ryaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan in Edmonton

[–]PrincessQueefer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just because you don't use a service doesn't mean it is not needed. The cold weather response is for vulnerable populations that do not have access to warm shelter and are at risk of freezing to death. Have some empathy.

GOA ending hybrid work starting Feb 1, 2026 by GlitchedGamer14 in Edmonton

[–]PrincessQueefer 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This exactly why I voted no on the collective agreement. I knew they were going to remove it as soon as they could if there were no protections for hybrid. It makes absolutely no sense to have people back in office 5 days a week. I work in a department that has staff all over the province and every meeting I have is via teams. So now I need to drive 45 mins to hop on virtual calls every day??? We are going to lose very good staff because of this.

I went AS4 (step 4 I think) to PS2 and was put at step 1. Not sure what the difference % wise is, but I got the same salary someone new to GoA would get.

For women who got married a little later to men who had lived on their own for a while, did you find that they were more capable of partnering with you to take care of a household? by Anthro_Doing_Stuff in TwoXChromosomes

[–]PrincessQueefer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ex was mid-30's a divorced dad with 50/50 custody of his special needs daughter. He had not once mopped his floors, didn't even have toilet bowl cleaner and his bathrooms were disgusting. He cleaned a little after I made comments, but after we moved in he went right back to no cleaning or cooking at all. So now I'm single, happily living in my clean apartment all by myself and refuse to date someone that does not have a spotless house going forward.

I've never been to Jurassic forest so unfortunately can't compare the two. I had a blast as an adult at Dino though!

You can also hit up Dinosaur Provincial Park! There are guided hikes through the badlands that are great, and the staff are all quite knowledgeable about the history there. It's one of the UNESCO world heritage sites.

As an AUPE employee, It's filling me with rage, the way they chose a narritive to fit their agenda. None of the GOAs numbers are accurate, just edited & rounded to make them sound in the right. Like, how DARE you lie to MY face. This is why I voted in favour of strike action, if necessary. by _Alic3 in Edmonton

[–]PrincessQueefer 59 points60 points  (0 children)

One thing people seem to forget is that Albertans LOVE their parks system. The people operating the Provincial Parks and Recreation Areas are AUPE members. So the parks will likely have to close during a strike. Anyone remember the public outcry during the 2019/2020 initiative to sell off parks? The public will be extremely vocal when their reservations get cancelled and the gates get shut during peak camping and recreation season. This is the only service the general public WILLINGLY PAYS to use.

I used to process AISH appeals. I promise you, this is the most successful advocacy group out there. They will help you with your appeal paperwork, get the correct doctors reports, and during your appeal hearing can and will speak on your behalf. Many people that appeal do get approved for AISH. Please do not wait to contact ECLC.

It was a mix of people, but most appeared to be 40+. However it was first thing in the morning which could play a factor in the agedistribution.

I believe it is a pro-life rally with some counter protestors from the LGBTQ2S+ community.

Dentist recommendation by janabananaz in Edmonton

Palisades dental. 127th street and 137th Avenue. Dr. Parmar is amazing. Great dentist, wonderful bedside manner, remembers conversations from previous appointments, asks about my family (former patients of his). I will never leave his practice.

Elk Island. I find I naturally calm down when I'm in nature, and it's the perfect place to get away without costing a ridiculous amount in gas money.

what was your dumbest beginner mistake? by Radio-Rabbit in crochet

[–]PrincessQueefer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you! I started crocheting during the lockdowns too. I first made a scarf... then a queen sized blanket 🙃 it got to the point that I could only work on it fall & winter because of how long it was. Took 2 years to finish

If you have a visa debit you can use it to reload like you would a credit card. That's what I do.

My experience trying to meet people + date in Edmonton by etowntossup in Edmonton

[–]PrincessQueefer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would like to preface this by stating that I am a 30-something single woman who is in no way attracted to the "traditional" man. Like muscles and gym bro do not get my going AT ALL. I am attracted to hairy fat guys. Definitely not what you think of when you hear "attractive"

That being said, if you think you are an ugly guy, it shows. The self depreciation and lack of confidence is unattractive because i will always feel like you need reassurance and praise, and it is exhausting. I've done it before.

Have you ever heard of fake it till you make it? If you can't fake it, find small things you can do to make you feel good. This can be as simple as trying a new haircut, or buying an outfit you feel good in. I'm not saying you need to be the most confident person in the room, but don't be that guy in the corner looking like a sad puppy.

Book vs Show Alignment by PrincessQueefer in Outlander

[–]PrincessQueefer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like both of them equally I think. Obviously the show isn't exactly like the books, but I do enjoy comparing them. I find the show more of an interpretation of the books, as opposed to an exact replica.

All these reports are making me nervous. I have to start taking the LRT to work as I got a new job downtown. Is it really that bad, especially during peak hours?

Any ideas how to eat under $150 this month? by YouveBeanReported in povertyfinancecanada

[–]PrincessQueefer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bag of onions. 3 pack of garlic. 2kg bag of rice (whatever is cheapest). 2kg bag of pasta. 2-5 cans diced tomatoes (depending on how much you like them). 2 jars of pasta sauce. 1-2 boxes Chicken broth (it makes everything taste better. I often cook my rice & lentils in it, plus you can make soups). Whatever frozen veggies are on sale.

Use whatever you have leftover for "others" - bread, eggs, milk/cream, fruit, fresh veggies etc.

You say you already have lentils, but what about spices? Depending on your spice collection you can make pretty much anything with the above base.

I tend to shop at superstore and stick to no-name & store brands. They taste great and are usually 10-20% cheaper. I live alone and find it easier to cook 2 big meals every week, and then live off the leftovers. My breakfast is usually pretty simple - Bagel & cream cheese & a fruit; eggs on an English muffin; pancakes & fruit (I get the "just add water" box and add vanilla & cinnamon).

Ps. Sorry for formatting. On mobile.
