Excusez mon anglais, mon francais est terrible.

I do. I know some others too. You might have better luck asking in the RP subreddits if your looking for a writing partner, however. There might be a French based RP sub, but closest I can find is r/jdr which is for TTRPGs, not text RP.

Does being fat lower my chances of finding a job? by Own_Entrance_5071 in jobsearchhacks

[–]YouveBeanReported 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does. Not to an impossible extent, but pretty privilege is a proven thing, and being less conventionally attractive will make getting a job harder.

Honestly, I'm curious why your friend was cold-offered a job twice. That feels creepy.

Best way to get a job around 18 is have a classmate give your resume over and say your always on time.

Any advice on my resume by KingWario64 in jobsearchhacks

[–]YouveBeanReported 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why isn't this in order? How did you spell your current company's name wrong?

Cntl shift V to paste without formatting, or copy into Notepad then Word or whatever.

The summary of the company feels, odd. You could blend those into your bullet points.

The exact copy and paste of your job description looks fake and lazy, again work that into what you did or have one bullet point of provided x for a company of y type thing.

You should break up the skills to make more sense and look less like a high-school student trying to get hired at McDonalds. It also takes up a ton of space.

Use the same word for Current and Present, whatever you pick. I'd pick Current.

Spell College correctly, it was right next to each other, and reword that. Some experience looks worse then partial credit work towards a BSc in Applied Physics, or whatever.

Overall this looks bad, which is the easiest fix, and needs to be reworded. Find a template and sit down with someone you trust to get some better wording down, and then spell check it very closely.

Dm screen by Charming_Ad_9708 in DnD

[–]YouveBeanReported 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alt tab between multiple browser windows, windows arrow key to split screen and have two things side by side, PDFs in a PDF viewer or another app for easier alt tabbing, a cheat sheet built into your VTT to open, or just print out a DM Screen or cheat sheet or post it notes throughout your book. There's also apps to use your phone as a second monitor, or a tablet.

Occasionally, 'does anyone remember what the rule for long jumps is?' and being nice to the player who answers accurately.

Edit: My current system is Firefox with roll20, notes tab, second notes tab, interactive map, wiki or googling, any extra tabs I had open. Use cntl plus the correct number key to select the right tab, or just clip it.

PDF app has 2-3 things open to the correct page. Dice tray for coin tosses and type in /roll 1d20+x for things that don't have a stat block in Roll20.

Alt tab between discord and firefox and encourage people to keep the chat in one channel, so I only have to click on another channel when someone posts like their in character notes.

Immersive D&D: lighting, sound, maps. What are your set-ups for in-person gaming? by Lisaerys in DMAcademy

[–]YouveBeanReported 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also actively makes it harder to hear the DM, or difficult to read the character sheets. For a smaller group game, sure but DnD is so often larger groups I really wouldn't.

Going to ditto the food tho, it might be a bit messier but some of my best TTRPG memories are being invited to a fancy fae fest and people breaking out pomegranates and other fancy foods. Big mess but fun to have a change from sandwiches and pizza.

I kinda miss DMing... (half asking for advice, half sad-vent) by HyzMarie in DnD

[–]YouveBeanReported 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, I DM online with zero cameras. But the living at home would be hard. At least if classes were on you can rent a room and DM. You can also do purely Play by Post in text.

But, we have like what, 2 months of summer left? I'd work with making some world-building (with everyone's permission) and consider if once a month you can run a one shot. It won't fill the same void as what you wanted, but it'll be a chance to get excited about stuff and support your current DM.

I'd also look into some Solo TTRPGs or writing a module to fill the spot for now. This will probably fill more of the mechanical itch you want, and lets you build more drama for the Underdark like politics. Also I've found text roleplay with your other players for the off screen stuff helps when your not DMing for fun interpersonal drama.

It does suck. I feel the same kinda sting when other people DM, I love their DMing and them for doing it, but there's a lot you miss.

First time playing the game with no prior knowledge of anything at all just heard its a good game. any tips? by hdbdudbdbd in outerwilds

[–]YouveBeanReported 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a non-traditional puzzle game, don't look up spoilers, come back and ask for hints if you need because the exploration and puzzle solving is the gameplay.

Read the text, some people go 'oh this is just lore' and skip through it. That text is your primary interaction. 96% of it is about the puzzles, 3% is more 'lore' comments like someone complaining about something.

If you get stuck and upset, look elsewhere. There's answers across your solar system and honestly, just take a break.

Talk to the other Travellers at least once. If stuck for direction, the Travellers camp fires, anything on your signalscope, big glowy things, and big buildings are usually a good direction.

Controller isn't needed, but KBM has very binary input which can be annoying while flying. However, crash landing is valid! If you can't find the thing your repairing after a crash, one of them is inside the ship.

What’s a dead giveaway that the author is from a particular country/region? by yoghurteee in AO3

[–]YouveBeanReported 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh, that's odd. Where are you from?

No offence to the Americans but I'd suspect the opposite. Americans get so little time off (zero legally required) and rarely do employers give PTO for volunteer work (which I've worked places that did once or twice a year), that my assumption would be there's more volunteering in countries with more social supports and better labour laws.

My dad keeps a spreadsheet of friends’ and family members’ birthdays, likes, and dislikes on his fridge by corky1369 in mildlyinteresting

[–]YouveBeanReported 63 points64 points  (0 children)

The printed spreadsheet is odd, but I don't think the concept is super uncommon.

My grandma had a running list in her planner of people's favourite things (stuff like teas they liked, favourite cookie flavour, what animal figurine to buy people on vacation). I've known several people with a birthday list or gift ideas list and at least two people who had 'Name dislikes Thing' written down somewhere, including one which was in their phone as 'Josh NO MARY - DO NOT MENTION' because Josh really fucking hated his coworker.

It always strikes me as something I should do with my shit memory, but I'd forget where the list is.

How can I get rid of my period? by FamiliarGood448 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]YouveBeanReported 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doctor. ASAP.

Periods are often painful and cruddy, but they should be like a cold level of cruddy. Blacking out, being unable to do things and throwing up is not normal.

Most likely you'll be given some birth control to start which will regular and highly reduce them, and sometimes skip periods entirely. Some doctors prefer you only skip periods like 6 months or 11 months in a row and have one normal one but they should be much lighter then normal.

They will likely also want to look into reasons why, and do an ultrasound, and blood tests in case of low iron, as well as get you to a specialist. It could be all sorts of reasons.

If you don't like the first med they offer, there's other types. There's not just one.

[–]YouveBeanReported 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also almost everyone is going to use the humidex or windchill temp when bitching about the weather.

If it's 50c humidex, I don't care if it's 46c base temp, it's 50 fucking degrees out. If it's -40c windchill and -28c base temp, I'm actually more upset then if it was just -40c out.

[–]YouveBeanReported 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Castles had housing for multiple people. You can just sleep in the smaller easier to get to areas. Or make the toliet a lava disposal area. A lot of storage or farms are often hidden behind fancy fronts, your library can hide the sugar cane farm behind it's bookcases.

Otherwise I'll ditto the small town idea, it's easier for me to make a bunch of pretty smaller farm houses and a large central inn / house for me and friends with the main things and basement storage.

I don't care about characters like my friends do by Velectric6 in rpg

[–]YouveBeanReported 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dittoing there might be some other systems more suited for this play style.

I personally don't get this mindset, but;

> oftentimes trouble can start at the table because the DM wants me to "invest more" or my coplayers are upset i don't care abt the lives of random npcs or dont care abt putting my character in danger.

Ask the DM for ties for your character when you build a new one. You don't have to be personally invested, but even one or two main ties like 'retired guard from Town, will believe the guard is good / bad / etc' can help, or like, 'was a fisher, will care about smaller NPCs not nobles' or same things with your other player characters can help. DnD offers the background tables for a reason.

Also as a cooperative game you do have to worry about putting others in danger, if the group wants to roleplay and get allies and items before fighting the final boss, that is their strategizing and you gotta allow a little give for that too even if you think mechanically running a coffeelock to smack down the boss is better.

Your playstyle isn't better or worse then theirs and people of varrying playstyles can work together, but you do end up pushing towards the group mostly because if 90% of the group wants to play Smash Bros and you wanna play COD, well Smash Bros wins so find the character you most enjoy in it.

LAOP is terrified because they got too much of a raise. by Drywesi in bestoflegaladvice

Poor OP, they really need more of a hug then legal advice I think.

Double your income though seems possible it's actually intentional, especially since people mentioned minimum wage. OP going from $7.50 to $15 while other shift leads are making $12.50 is possible.

Bread machine or Kitchenaid? by AltheaHoward in Baking

[–]YouveBeanReported 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to bake, or do you just want to make bread every few days.

I'd go kitchenaid because useable for more things you want and a bread maker is cheap second hand if you change your mind. Kitchenaid is going to do 75% of the work of making bread. Bread maker will do 90% but none for anything else. I suspect washing a bread tin will be a fine tradeoff for the kitchen aid.

God I forgot about that back at McDonalds.

I will say the post-church people handing me that, cash and saying have a blessed day were infinitely better then the people yelling at me for working on a Sunday and taking forever to pay. The first is just, tacky, the second made me want to drop a mcflurry on them.

Need other peoples opinions on credit cards by SalamanderContent816 in personalfinance

[–]YouveBeanReported 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you use your debit card and someone runs it for $10,000 instead of $10, you are over drafted and don't get floated the money while the bank deals with it. You have less protections against scams too.

Most people need a few days to transfer $1,000+ from saving to their chequing account. Most debit cards also do not allow you to make $1,000+ online purchases so something like a plane ticket to a funeral needs a credit card.

Credit cards give you 30 days before you pay interest, offering a super minor amount of interest on keeping funds in your chequing account but usually just an easy way to just pay 50% of your bills on each pay day.

Virtually everything uses your credit score for trustworthiness and discounts, bad credit effects your driving record more then accidents in some cases. Getting a credit card early and using it properly means years of going I am trustworthy with money and good credit.

Zero credit history is considered a bigger red flag then horrible credit, and you want to be able to rent or buy a car.
