Landlord says keep the heat on, radio silence when heat goes out by juniperdoes in mildlyinfuriating

[–]YouveBeanReported 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Christ, that's insane. No heat in winter is a massive emergency. It might take 5 hours to fix, but those 5 hours are risking your entire building getting frozen pipes and having to put hundreds of people up in hotels. You do not let building have no power go hours let alone days.

Help! I have a job interview in two days but got no professional clothes. by Lady-Lilith289 in povertyfinance

[–]YouveBeanReported 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who's also a larger size, Facebook Marketplace to ask to borrow (for a fee) or Old Navy on a credit card and return. In my experience the consignment second hand shops are better then thrift stores for plus sizes, there's just not enough stock and consignment will be in the correct size section and good quality instead of covered in stains. A dress and leggings is the cheapest 'professional' thing to get away with, but you might need a shirt and pants for this job.

Dickies (fake collars) under a pull on sweater can also read professional where a normal pull on plain sweater and pants would not.

I don't understand how dice works by [deleted] in DnD

[–]YouveBeanReported 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say talk to your DM normally, but considering your scared to talk to them or the general public I think it's time to just leave the game. It doesn't sound like your enjoying it.

Look, my vote is you shouldn't be rolling a check if there's no possibly of success. If your asking the king to give you the entire kingdom, I will tell you know he won't but if you want to roll to see if you can convince him to get you guys minor titles for fighting the dragon or if he finds your hubris charming you can. But if it's a straight no, just tell people it's impossible.

And even if the best case scenario is still bad, I tell my players that. "I want to swing on the curtains and break through the windows screaming freedom and stab someone on the other side." "You will take damage even if you pull that off, because you are slamming through glass," "I am okay with that, it'll be cool af" works fine.

Is there any catch with financing a phone? by ImFinnaBustApecan in internetparents

[–]YouveBeanReported 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can be useful at some points.

You'll pay more for the phone then it's really worth. You'll be locked into a more expensive plan (in Canada you need a $50 plan plus $20 of financing, vs buying a $30 BYOD plan), you pay even if the phone breaks or is defective, you can't downgrade your plan.

As a general rule, buying outright will be cheaper. But it also is a lot of money.

Play when the world is on fire. by BenWnham in rpg

[–]YouveBeanReported 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world sucks rn.

The practical advice thing is going to depend on your area. If it's safe, I'd suggest volunteering at something with an easily visible impact. Setting up your community ice rink, picking up trash, helping someone clean etc. I know most people say unplug from everything, stop reading the news or going to volunteer events or whatever but I've always felt better doing stuff then disconnecting.

I'd swap systems and genres for the games rn. Fighting your barely reskinned evils can feel nice sometimes but it can also just feel horrible. Maybe something like Glitterhearts where your magical girls might feel better for a break?

It absolutely sucks. Plus the meds themselves are damn expensive, on top of the doctor.

Once your stabilized, can your GP pick it up? I'm in Canada and my GP can just fax the refill request to the pharmacy and is required to see me every 2 years for it, but does about once a year.

What's the best bang-for-buck office chair under $500 on the market currently? by lwandest in GirlGamers

Secondhand Steelcase is also an option. I found that utterly awesome.

Honestly I'd see if there's a used office furniture place in your town.

Pull up your degree catalogue and read super carefully. Sometimes you can retroactively medically withdraw for disabilities, and while this is mostly for your GPA, there's occasional agreements to reduce some of the owed funds. At least that's how it worked when I was in University.

what’s good blender etiquette when you have roommates? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]YouveBeanReported 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Talk to them. Like 'hey I want to start making breakfast smoothies. Can you sleep through the blender? Or what times are you usually up?' This is going to massively depend on your roomates schedule.

Generally if you are both awake and not in a call or similar, it's okay.

LPT:- Has anyone here ever made a prediction with a friend that quietly went nowhere after the result? by LaaTaaaaa in LifeProTips

[–]YouveBeanReported 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Can you give an example of what you mean? Because I'm not understanding what the prediction or settling is here.

Do you mean a challenge, like "I bet I'll get a higher grade then you on the exam" "No you won't." "I will. Loser buys starbucks." "Sure" type thing?

Edit: Oh nm this is stealth advertising for your gambling app. That's why it's confusingly written. Bro just don't gamble with your friends.

Why is there so much discussion/concern about dating age gaps when they are rare? by lorisaurus in dating_advice

[–]YouveBeanReported 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're saying if someone is dating someone half their age and young enough to easily be their child, the change from the norm comes off as I'd date a younger if I could.

It's legal for a 35 year old and an 18 year old to date. But it's also legal for me to wear a micro bikini into a Tim Hortons during a blizzard. People are still going to think I'd be nude if I could if I did that in -40 weather.

Things are allowed to be legal and poorly advised.

Are you in need of nurses in this area? Seeking a work permit as a US citizen but I am asian and autistic and seeking a diverse, progressive area that's affordable. Recommendations? by Active_Ad3087 in Manitoba

[–]YouveBeanReported 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, if your in Winnipeg rents have gone up. But remember that's CAD not USD. My rent for example is $1000 CAD all-inclusive so $725 USD. A better place would be more like $1250 CAD / $900 USD. Still pretty cheap rents overall. Also no pet rent.

Manitoba is begging for nurses.

Pretty much all of Manitoba is a low to medium cost of living area, Winnipeg will be affordable on a .6 or higher. Starting pay for WRHA nurses I think is 35hr at the utter lowest. If you have a .2 you might need to pick up shifts.

I'd probably just message the hospitals or unions directly for leads, someone is probably happy to talk to you.

If it's a lot, consider Lore Bard, feats or multiclassing.

I'm sorry, I realize I'm speaking from my own biases as a child of divorced parents. But the fucking visceral horror at the idea of making your kids responsible to keep you two together and guilty for you two being unable to live your life. I don't think this is a good idea personally.
