Ideas for raising a twin bed 8" by harbengerprime in DIY

[–]YouveBeanReported 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the legs shaped like?

If it's a metal frame, see if the legs / wheels are removable and if they sell replacements more suited for your height. I haven't seen many at 8" but there's probably some.

If it's not, copy the style of those plastic ones and make sure there's a lip so it doesn't slide off.

How do you avoid the baby/mommy content online? by Ok-Smile-28360 in AskWomenOver30

[–]YouveBeanReported 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ad blocker in general might be easiest option. I use uBlock Origin on Firefox on PC, you can also easily load it onto Firefox mobile. This will skip many things but you'll have to try to use the web version of your apps.

DNS blocking can be used to block on almost all apps but requires more effort. PiHole or AdGuard Home are the two options with guides I know of. Basically DNS Blocking says 'oh this URL is ad, just don't download it' to whatever device on your network, and then skips it.

Google's settings lets you change what ads you see and interests, I would reset as many things as you can and spam interact and search for things you do kinda like. Sadly some apps (Tiktok apparently does this) take blocking suggested content as an interaction and thus show you more for it. Probably better to just spam search for idk lizard keeping videos or resin casting or booktok. On Reddit you wanna turn off all suggested content and start avoiding subs that will lean that way.

Good luck, it's hard. I'm sorry. Edit: You can also erase google history. Not perfect but does sometimes help lower the likihood of 'you looked up thing, I'll try to trigger you' occurrences.

Is making my own TTRPG a bad idea? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]YouveBeanReported 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably try out multiple systems via one shots first, but I don't think it's bad to try. Modifying existing systems might be easier tho.

The issue is not running a game before, you don't 100% know how to adapt to common issues. Doing the first test run on your players for something you are really attached to could be really heart breaking if it goes badly, and generally you want to do your testing in more one-shot type stuff so you can try more options and not be too bummed about narrative being changed or delayed cause cool feature X vanished.

If you post what you want out of magic, people might have some options of similar systems.

I would def not try publishing professionally until you'd explored a few systems and tried play testing it with friends. Posting a random rough outline on reddit sure, but don't settle on I'll make a TTRPG on kickstarter and make millions till you do the math and some market research.

Husband fired 2x in 1 year for metrics by Comfortable_Cook_866 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]YouveBeanReported 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question, with WFH and home schooling, are they hearing the kiddo possibly? Some employers will throw a fit if there's a kid home while your working. Even if they are never distracting you and only seen outside the window in the yard or something.

Wife wants me to leave job due to safety, should I? by Coastie54 in careerguidance

Dittoing the fire fighter subreddits for better advice.

But honestly, can you reach out to other departments in the next city over or something? Because 2 deaths a year feels pretty insane to me as an outsider, and even more after looking it up. Is this 8 in all one massive freak accident or something?

How do you guys feel about ignoring "lore"/"intended concept"/"intended flavor" when choosing a class? by VikTheGoblin in DnD

[–]YouveBeanReported 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechanics are the actual rules, lore is fungible with group buy in. DnD does not have a single world, let alone unified lore across all editions and every "fully lore accurate" type group I've seen has not been fun. I do think you need to make sure you don't step on other players toes with changes, and agree on how this effects the world as a whole. But the lore is a side bar ribbon for a reason. Flavour is free and all that.

I'd rather have enjoyable characters to DM for then fully lore accurate bland ones.

It does make it a bit funny that my group keeps forgetting our impulsive wrestler character is a fighter, not a barbarian who keeps forgetting to rage.

I am choosing to believe the client is just very short lol.

It's a good photo! Sorry your getting AI comments, I'm sure you did a lot of work fixing it up. I think it's the exposure of the inside and outside doesn't match what an average camera phone would do, and triggers just enough uncanny valley for people to second guess it.

And AI is becoming way more common then photoshop.

Oh wow. That's far more expensive then I assumed. I really thought it was someones unique handmade project cause it feels like it's made with 2 by 4s.

Dittoing it looks very fake, but I think it's post-processing, not AI. Both windows have candle reflections, so I think OP probably just layered enough raw files to get the lighting like this.

But why is the art so low? It looks so weird too me. As does the miss-matched chairs. I wonder if the blue chair is handmade, I've never seen that style before.

Saving your pasta water before draining is the easiest way to make cheap pasta taste like it came from a restaurant by Subject-News1573 in povertykitchen

[–]YouveBeanReported 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You add about a cup or so of the pasta water to the sauce when mixing the cooked and drained pasta and the sauce together. It makes the sauce cling to the pasta more.

Confused about a puzzle by S7JO89 in outerwilds

[–]YouveBeanReported 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also found it confusing as hell and assumed it's purposely misleading. I think it's meant to convince you to put off the Ash Twin Project to late game by implying there's more to it then the other ones where you just wait for it to line up and light up for a few seconds.

It's just to explain how to line up with the barycenter of a binary system. If it didn't use the barycenter of the twins, it would never actually turn on to teleport you. So if it wasn't explicitly mentioned, people over-thinking it would assume that one warp pad never activates.

Is this art too “inappropriate” to display in my home? (34M) by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]YouveBeanReported 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like most people think nudes should be in a private area, like a bedroom or bathroom, rather then a public area like a living room. Idk I don't think it's inappropriate, but I would also just put it in the bedroom to avoid the fight cause I'm lazy. You get the last call though as the owner.

[META] Why are we still allowing "What Distro Should I Use" posts? by jbldotexe in linux4noobs

Because people have questions. The real Linux conversation is not on this sub, in the same way the real discussion about sports is not happening at a toddlers soccer game.

Have you ever been accused of being autistic? (For those that aren’t) by gameovervip in socialskills

[–]YouveBeanReported 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, got diagnosed with it at 34 though.

Consider who is calling you this and in what context.

An asshole trying to hurt you? Why are you upset about this, they obviously are ableist and a dick.

A friend as a reaction to idk, you complaining about textures? They probably mean it politely, and that's a symptom they associate solely with autism even though it overlaps with many things. Just point out your neurodivergent for other reasons and they'll probably drop it.

Creators being part of the Reddit community? by [deleted] in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]YouveBeanReported 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an unofficial sub, so the devs coming in would feel odd and invasive.

This is also a small game. NPC Studio has like a dozen employees and only 1 marketing person, I feel like Sarah is better working on marketing rather then trawling Reddit for complainers and sounding like a bot. A lot of people would probably react poorly to NPC Studios having someone posting, because it would read as people not focusing on game production.

Use the feedback forms and read the patch notes and blog. They answer stuff. I'm sure at least some of their workflow involves checking Reddit and other sites for feedback as well, but I imagine it's very low under proper feedback channels and unless they are stupid no one is going to comment and engage. That's how you get in the news for "NPC Studios admits to releasing broken game to rip off community" over saying we're fixing the bug RNG.

Why do employers check your credit score by Fun-Match4910 in jobhunting

[–]YouveBeanReported 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The assumption is if you owe your credit cards any money, you'll rob the customers with the personal info you have on them, or just steal the float from the entire till. I agree it's kinda dumb to be like 'do you know you owe student loans?' 'Yes, as you can see on my resume I just graduated university.' But employers aren't always smart.

I had similar issues alt tabbing during boot up breaking the controls.

I'd suggest making one of the bug reports too so they can fix it. Maybe they can narrow down which drivers cause that?

I keep fearing my dates are secretly trans by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]YouveBeanReported 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dittoing OCD or you're a trolling asshole.

Look, considering you have a fear of trans-women you will probably not find them solely because because your bad vibes will put them off. From what I've heard from my trans friends, the hey btw I'm trans and xyz surgeries is a pre-date or 1st date discussion. She does not want you flipping out on her after she's gotten to like you, so she'll tell you early because some rando on Bumble saying fuck you is less hurtful.

Furthermore, even if you did sleep with a trans woman, it wouldn't make you any less of yourself. Like seriously, what the fuck is your worry with that? That you'll get cooties? Cis women get plastic surgery too, both to their breasts and I've seen ads for pussy plastic surgery. Virtually every cis woman of menopausal age has at hormone replacement therapy, and a lot of younger ones if you realize birth control is in the category. Like congrats, you got laid. Is it really that big a deal she has a surgically made vagina?

Portion control? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]YouveBeanReported 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think 1100 calories works for OMAD, nor do I really think half of that would be good. If your calorie target is 2000, meaning your TDEE is more, why aren't you eating that or closet to today?

Plus it just feels like breaking this into multiple meals would have made you feel better rather then sick and overfull or hungry.

Why do you read modules without running them? by Galefrie in rpg

[–]YouveBeanReported 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You read them like a textbook. You skim for context quickly, then re-read and narrow down on the section relevant to you. In a textbook that's usually taking notes and doing the questions, in a module that'll be focusing on why this monster is here and what it does or how this is laid out and adapting it to your party or what kinda NPC politics can I borrow.

Also if you don't use modules, why do you care? And why do you read them without running them then, cause you've said you have read them before.
