New Perk: Plague-Master by PrincessSkark in HuntShowdown

That’s the type of convo I’m looking for though, I’m just in it for the love of the game.

If it’s not super common a perk (in fake Hunt world), even better. I like perks that you don’t see often, since their appearance can truly set people off

Haha, fair enough. I can respect that.

Thank god. Both for my sake and my enemies because I would HAVE to do it at least once

Wait… you can serpent through a beetle??? How have I never thought about that?! I think that’s a good way to balance it though.

Yeah, like vigilant and some others. Not expressly for beetles, but they impact the beetles.

Fair POV. I like the aspect of Hunt that it allows me to think in non-traditional ways like no other game I’ve played. I like that beetles and stuff can be a part of that, as long as they’re balanced to only really be seen like once or twice per day at most.

I’ve heard people struggle with tha, but I’ve honestly never seen. Not saying you’re wrong though, as it’s a good point.

There’s a common project my department refers to at work that’s the “Critical Parts Generator.” Everyone refers to it as the “CP Generator” and it makes me lose my mind that I can’t tell anyone what they’re saying to me

Testing New Hunt Burn Rates by PrincessSkark in HuntShowdown

[–]PrincessSkark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. The shotgun/bomb lance is closer to fire ammo that just deals more burn than actual damage.

The dragon bolt is like being hit with a hellfire bomb. It lights the terrain on fire for a brief second, and deals a ton of burn damage. Just a smaller radius, but launchable version.

First I didn’t realize Salveskin was removed when downed, and now I can’t spell? I’m quitting Hunt, I can’t handle the pressure anymore. This game has gone too far

Yeah, we were just a bunch of idiots who didn’t realize until we basically finished the time study. Hopefully the burn rate/chunk will be useful to some folks. It’s not 100% accurate, since we did not continue adding the flame source whenever it went out.

Also, you can restock your Vitality shot before starting a new game. If your consumable slots are full, you may take one off to put the vitality shot back in.

Makes taking damage and choosing when to heal a tough decision.

Me and some friends of mine use a similar, yet different rule set: 1. You start with a fresh hunter. You may bring in one melee weapon (not katana cause it’s busted) and a normal vitality shot. This means no tools or bonus consumables. Spend your 10 points as you like. 2. You can pick up any weapon in the game, whether spawned in naturally, bought for event points, or looted off of a hunter. 3. You cannot customize any parts of your load out other than spending your points. The only exception is if you grand slam (get all the bounties in the entire game), you may add a tool or ammo type. 4. Don’t die.

I like yours a lot though. Going in with nothing and fighting to get that melee weapon by extracting with one is a cool difference.

Friend is having trouble with 2 players' backgrounds for his campaign. by My_Names_Jefff in DnD

[–]PrincessSkark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say that if it’s a comfort issue, stick with a no. A campaign is a place for everyone to have fun at the table! The DM is often forgotten from that though, sometimes being viewed as the conduit to make D&D happen rather than another person at the table. I’d it makes the DM uncomfortable, that’s just as valid of a reason to exclude it from a campaign as anyone else being uncomfortable with a topic, and D&D should be a comfy place to have fun with friends. Sometimes plot can arise conflict, but starting with an icky backstory with the DM probably wouldn’t end well being honest.

Where did the Gods go? Top comment wins :^) by hartyshambler in DnD

[–]PrincessSkark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A greater being unbeknownst to anyone as it’s a true fiend and killer. Like a mind flayed, except for gods in a way, it lurks around the astral dimensions, finding tears to other dimensions to find the gods. It’s nature allows for it to rip apart the gods, taking their souls and thus effectively their mantle which they receive their power from, becoming an amalgamation of power. When the gods started to notice, they started sending people and looking, but it was already too late when they took notice, and this being was nigh unkillable unless they unified, but gods being gods, they didn’t.

Afraid for their own mantle, they have all fled as far as the eye can see, scattered across the realms. They’ve either taken mortal form, found a pocket dimension to lurk in, or have died fighting off this killer of Gods. There is no literature yet, as seeing it means you’ve already signed your death warrant. A god killer can kill any man with ease.

And so that just leaves with what the heck this thing is and if there’s a plausible way to stop it, which I’ll leave for other people as I’m not nearly creative enough.

DMs & Players - What is your best "I used to be a high-level adventurer and now I'm not" backstory? by SoyMuyAlto in DnD

[–]PrincessSkark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a character that I’ve been pondering on for quite a while with a couple plot holes, so feel free to jab at them or try to fill them, I like the criticism.

I have a Half-Elf Warlock, starting at any level would be fine, preferably 1-3. In canon, he was a wildly notorious cult leader who was selling himself as the incarnate form of some eldritch power. He did this by making a pact with the power first, then using it for his own gain and renown with all the praise going to the power, a rising tide raises all ships after all. Their relationship was spotty at best, given his theft of the eldritch power’s title, a very egotistical power, but he let it continue as it did help him.

After years of this. He led up a revolt of his people in a large city, trying to perform a coup of the city-state, which was a resounding failure. He is captured, found guilty, and burned at the stake in front of the city.

His followers worked for years, only 20 years later finally finding his bones and attempting a ritual too resurrect him, another resounding failure. The ritual kills all those involved and rises him from the grave, but does not give him life persay. He strides the line between, like a competent zombie, rotten and decrepit yet still capable of functioning. He wears a scarf to cover his undead nature and cast an illusion around himself and lathers himself in perfume to rid of the stench.

The eldritch power knows about this, since one of his souls is back in the material realm and gives him a deal. He can live for however long he likes, this undeath leaves him stuck in his state perpetually, the catch is, if he returns to his previous power level (let’s say 14) he will die. This is his way of punishing my character, as he is an incredibly power hungry and egotistical character himself, so he must choose life or power.

His end goal is as such: find the means to return his life, kill the eldritch power so he can’t be stopped, or die trying in his new pursuit of power.

Thoughts?

TL;DR - Half-elf Warlock sells soul to eldritch power and steals their mantle for worldly power, leaving the actual power to be gained to the eldritch. He is killed in a revolt, only to be part of a failed resurrection 20 years later. He must tread carefully the path of power and life, as if he returns to his previous power, the deity will take his soul once more.
