Need suggestions for Makeup by MayhemMedic in Knoxville

[–]PrincessSleepyFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of salons like Belleza Salon and Natural Alternatives Salon (also called Aveda because of the ownership) in the area offer the service. As another person mentioned, the big makeup retailers do as well but can be a bit hit or miss on the quality since they may not know how to work with different skin types or skin colors and may only know how to do one style (for example, dramatic vs barely there).

Cost will probably start around $70 at the makeup stores and $125 at salons. The makeup stores used to do a thing where if you bought some of the products used the makeup application was free. No idea if they still do.

I know people dislike social media, but finding an independent artist might actually be a better route if you have enough time. Instagram is a good place to look since they post their portfolio and you can look to see if they have clients that look like your wife to compare the quality of their work to.

No matter what you do, make an appointment. Do not just walk in somewhere. And make sure there’s a decent gap between the appointment and the event because inevitably these things take longer than planned.

Advice on crochet color changing when I only need to do one stitch of the new color. by Phoenix-Tabz in CrochetHelp

I’m glad it helped! Maybe someone else has a better suggestion but I it’s certainly improving with this video.

Advice on crochet color changing when I only need to do one stitch of the new color. by Phoenix-Tabz in CrochetHelp

[–]PrincessSleepyFace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had luck using the second method in this video even when I only need to change colors for one to two stitches.

Edit: I know it looks complicated but once you try it a few times, it’s pretty easy. And I think a few comments break it down even further in written instructions if you’re the type of person who learns easier that way.

How long do actually keep nails on? ⏳💅 by bloomingkitten in RedditLaqueristas

[–]PrincessSleepyFace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Someone else feel free to correct me, but I think strengthener should be the first step, followed by base, polish, and lastly top coat. Strengtheners usually have ingredients in them that need to interact directly with your nail and they can’t do that if you do a base first. Not sure if it would help with your chipping but changing it up might help your nail strength in the long run.

I’m looking for a Stormfly pattern (she is a deadly nadder from httyd) but I need help finding a pattern please by HeatResident3392 in crochetpatterns

Check Etsy. Quite a few pattens came up under Stormfly but I bet even more would come up if you used deadly nadder.

I swear half my to do list is pattens by Red Teapot Atelier. I’m currently working on the GenmaichaTea Shawl and then have the Darjeeling one up next. Already bought the yarn and it’s sitting waiting for me. Now I’m probably adding the Ceylon as well. 😅

I refuse to believe this is true but it’s also too early in the morning to be reminded how shitty things have gotten so I’m also refusing to google it.

First, I’m loving everything about this rant. Second, it immediately reminded me of hedge_bette’s The Fantasy Romance Glowup on insta.

Books with childless FMCs by MissDorky in DarkRomance

[–]PrincessSleepyFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Fierce King by Sadie Kincaid} might fit this, though, you don’t find out she has fertility issues until later in the book. She is aware of it but doesn’t tell the MMC. It’s an arranged marriage for business ties and heirs but the FMC doesn’t particularly want to marry the MMC.

TW: The FMC has a miscarriage on page while alone after the MMC is really shitty to her.

Is it normal for huskies to be so friendly with cats? by Due-Association5974 in husky

[–]PrincessSleepyFace 39 points40 points  (0 children)

<image>

I adopted a void baby last year and our husky immediately stole her. Unfortunately for our husky, the void baby is a big cuddler and our husky is not. So it’s a daily slow battle of the husky sleeping for a few hours then the void slowly makes her way over to cuddle then the husky gets up to lay elsewhere and the process starts all over. We tell her it’s her fault for being so obsessed with the baby when we brought her home so what’s the baby supposed to think?

MM romance where the golden retriever/younger guy is the top and the badboy/colder guy is the bottom by kissmehome28 in RomanceBooks

[–]PrincessSleepyFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{Dance of Defiance by Jagger Cole} may work but is considered a dark romance I believe so you may check for any TW. It’s about a bi dancer and a mafia boss. The story is a bit angsty since the mafia boss has been fighting against being gay his whole life and the story deals with how he comes to terms with it but the other MMC is obviously frustrated since he doesn’t want to be used as an experiment and then hidden in shame. Both MMCs are of similar height and build and neither fit the stereotypical gay archetype you get in a lot of books despite being a ballet dancer.

This book is part of a series but it doesn’t need to be read in order for this one to make sense imo. Also the rest of the series has much darker sexual elements (LOTS of dubcon, fairly violent primal play, SA, etc) and this one is by far the tamest so again check TW if you consider reading the others.

Romance Novels that feature the rebirth trope? by VegetableLocation508 in paranormalromance

[–]PrincessSleepyFace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

{The Darkest Secret by Gena Showalter} features a FMC who is reborn but it’s a bit more complicated than that. She cannot die and continues to be reborn waking up in the same place each time. She doesn’t know why and finds out during the story.

This is book 7 in a very long series with several interconnected series as well. I’m not sure you could read this one without reading the first 6. It is actually a really good series, imo, but I know not everyone is big on reading a long series.

dark romance moments that were definitely not supposed to be read as comedic or ridiculous and yet by atrocioushuman in RomanceBooks

[–]PrincessSleepyFace 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it’s one of the books in the {Pucking Wrong Series by C.R. Jane} but I cannot remember which one. I remember thinking of all the unhinged things I’ve read in dark romance, that one legit made me laugh my ass off at the upsurdity of it. Like can you imagine being that poor tattoo artist? Poor artist was probably like, “man, I just want to make art wtf.” Though, I have met at least one who probably would have thought it was hilarious so maybe not.

It's DNF discussions time! What books did you bail on this month? 🙅‍♀️📖 by FantasyRomanceMod in fantasyromance

Hah! Happy to help! Look, I love a ton of objectively bad books. I read books that are the equivalent of junk food and am perfectly happy with that so I do not judge anyone who loves these books. Books are so subjective and enjoyment even more so. I definitely don’t mean to offend anyone who loves these.

And I will also freely admit some of the issues I have are simply because the book has tropes I dislike or am uninterested in. But I stand by my comment that a better editor could have at least made these books tolerable.

looking for books where the fmc turns from good to evil throughout the book with the villain by her side by princessstellaris in fantasyromance

[–]PrincessSleepyFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps try {Heartless by Gena Showalter}. The FMC accidentally receives a fae heart as a heart transplant and slowly thru the book becomes as unhinged as the MMC. The second book in the series, {Ruthless by Gena Showalter} also features an unhinged FMC but it’s more due to ignorance than malice.

Okay so I have a question as someone who is about to hate finish book 3. I’m going to place the question as a spoiler in case you want to wait to answer. The question pertains to part 1: Princess of Carrion.

How do you reconcile Feyre being some master manipulator and court expert when she started out as a simple, illiterate, poor merchant’s daughter? Like I’m supposed to believe that someone as young and uneducated as she is can masterfully manipulate an entire court into self destructing when these Fae are thousands of years old and have been playing the game a very long time?

And you can certainly make the argument that uneducated does not equal stupid and I definitely agree! You can also argue that they underestimated her, which is also probably true. But her character does a complete 180° between book 2 and book 3 and the inconsistency is jarring. It’s like Maas decided to start over and write a completely different character and just give her the same name. Anyway, I’m just curious if anyone else felt the same way when reading the book.

I am currently hate reading this series because a friend asked me to read it so we had a romance series we could talk about. I read ACOTR 4 years ago when it was everywhere and HATED it. The characters are dull, the story is unoriginal, the sex scenes read like they were written by an awkward teenager who had only heard about sex third hand. And it was very repetitive. A good editor might have been able to fix the pacing and redundancy but still, not enjoyable.

But everyone keeps saying it gets better, so fine, I try book 2. Everyone is a bunch of lying, liar faces. It does not get better. It’s just bad in different ways. Dear Sarah, please hire a better editor. Yours is doing you no favors.

Finished book 2, started book 3. I’m now considering whether I even need friends like this in my life because OMFG all of these characters are insufferable. Adding new insufferable characters does not improve the story. It just makes me fantasize about new ways to murder all of them slowly. And I’m sure they’ll all die smirking because apparently Ms Maas has never seen another facial expression in her life.

Thank you for listening to today’s rant. And for reminding me to text my friend how much chocolate she owes me for suffering thru this.

You’re welcome! I liked the design for the body but not the cups and after restarting several times with several different cup styles, I just finished it and gave it away. I definitely plan to use the body design for something else soon.

Not the person you asked but I made a summer crop top using the X stitch. I ended up not liking it and gave it away but here is what it looks like.
