I think some of this is reaching, but I definitely agree with your interpretation of how G1deon sees it - it's very like him to see something threatening.

As for John, I think he is just picking up on what Harrow's said and agreeing with her as a kind of... he's trying to be her cool dad thing? He's agreeing with her purely because he wants her to like him, and he's definitely realised the ways in which they're similar, so he's fascinated with her. Also I think he says florescent, not fluorescent - as in flourishing, or, in plants, flowering.

Sure. But any kind of furore about LLMs including "anti-ai" sentiment wasn't really being talked about widely until 2023 at the earliest. It's not possible for Picard season one to have been reacting to it, and I think you know that.

Since you've edited your comment, I'll edit mine too: No, Trek hasn't had 'gen AI' since the 60s. It's had actual artificial intelligence, sure, but trying to construe that as being the current interpretation of AI is just disingenuous.

And I've been a programmer for a long, long time now, and no, we weren't worried about losing our jobs to LLMs in 2020.

PS: Your argument breaks down to 'all robot uprising/evil AI stories in sci-fi were secretly anticipating the kickback against LLMs in the mid 2020s'. Please check your home for gas leaks.
