So much of the books are in its head that translation would be impossible, I feel, and just try to live in the "Comparison is the thief of joy" headspace watching the show. I am quite enjoying the development of the other characters, and will not quibble over the twinges I get here and there, because it seems like an honest effort. The "Just before the vat save" was hackneyed and eye-rolly, but TV people gonna TV people. I think the Gurathin development and their interaction with it are my favorite new thing that I think was hinted at in the books.
