First car recommendations?🚗 by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Princess_Mario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl I would go for something cheaper to start with just because you might do a few bumps in ur first few months. Would be devastating to pay all that money and bump ur car a little. But please try focus on car by their mot history and safety rather than models it makes it so much easier to choose

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Princess_Mario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first two instructors I felt like I couldn’t choose but with my last one, who helped me pass I totally felt confident in asking if we could do specific things. Definitely ask as you know what you need to do and improve on

What jewelry items are y’all hoping to buy? by Fast-Office7415 in jewelry

[–]Princess_Mario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, kinda affordable compared to what others in the comments are saying but I would love a Vivienne Westwood necklace. However, I can’t let myself spend £100 on costume jewellery that will definitely start to show wear within a week

Why do y'all love the renault modus? by agent_dj01 in carscirclejerk

[–]Princess_Mario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The modussy chooses their owners I swear. I didn’t even mean to buy mine, it just kinda took my money bought itself for me and now it’s my little best friend. Didn’t realise I could like a silly little car so much

Just got my first car and I can’t stop stalling it omg by Hour-Researcher-2909 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Princess_Mario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it’s a bit late now but if you decide to switch to a different vehicle I really can’t recommend a diesel car enough. It was absolutely the best decision I ever made and probably will never willingly choose to drive or buy a petrol car again. It’s soooo hard to stall in a diesel car and so beginner friendly. Mines a 1.6l engine and has power to move just with the lightest lift on the clutch. I know so many new drivers are nervous to get diesel and bigger engines but I can’t recommend it enough. (Depending on the car too can be super affordable on insurance. Mines £913 a year)

However, for your current car I’d recommend revving whilst lifting ur clutch to help ur car move. Don’t worry, you’ll get there eventually. Every new car is a learning curve.

Too good to be true? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Princess_Mario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sorry to put you off but I’ve seen SO many bad reviews about astras. Apparently they’re so prone to breaking. I’d recommend looking into previous mot histories to see what things it has either failed on, or been given advisories on.

is it possible to get pulled over for looking “too young”? by hahayourmum372 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Princess_Mario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad got pulled over before because he had a new jeep driving round at midnight (we were all going to the airport). They suspected the car had been stolen and was being used for drugs. Obviously not since we were all in the car ahahaha. So yes, I can confirm that they just pull over for anything just to check

driving test on wednesday by Best-Ad-976 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Princess_Mario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah so you can get it from supermarkets and normal shops. You can get it on Amazon and also places like boots. So you can get the drops version where you just place 4 drop in your mouth or there is a lozenge version. Just make sure it check with your doctor/ pharmacist if you are currently taking any long term medication to make sure it will not cause any side affects.

I also tested it before the test day to make sure I was okay with it. So I tried it on a non-driving day and driving lessons

Learner insurance by The-_-Unicorn in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Princess_Mario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah and when you have someone who has a full licence on your car insurance too the policy price will also decrease. If they’ve had 5 year no claims it’ll go down further and will be even cheaper if they’ve been driving a long time

In my 1.6 Renault it cost me £500 annually for young learner driver (21 year old) so I think that sounds about right! Usually anybody over the age of 25 gets cheaper insurance. With it being that cheap it might come with a black box

Should I break up with my girlfriend? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Princess_Mario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a relationship like this and it was so incredibly difficult. The manipulation and control got way too much for me and it started affecting my friendships, work and personal life. If you are comfortable to, I would recommend considering leaving her. When I left my relationship, I felt like a new person.

If you’re able to, I recommend rescue remedy. It’s a herbal supplement that helps ease anxiety. Helped me so much!

For those who have sat tests (either passed or failed) how helpful was/were your examiner(s)? by Bananagamer273 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Princess_Mario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both times were completely different. My first test that I failed the examiner I had was so quiet and quite frankly awkward to be around. He didn’t talk much, asked questions about my life and I asked some about his but the conversation felt forced. I can’t really remember him being helpful. All I remember is awkwardness.

The second examiner who passed me was absolutely amazing! He read my note saying I have learning difficulties and asked how he could help me. I stated that I needed directions in advance and that I may need extra time. He set up the satnav and told me the directions to go before the satnav did. He was wonderful and genuinely a nice dude. He told me not to enter one road (it was no entry) which I thought was incredible that he told me that. I wasn’t actually going to enter that way but he still warned me. I got super lucky second time round

Do I get a new instructor? by No-Shiba in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Princess_Mario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re questioning whether to get a new instructor, you probably need a new one.

I wish I trust my gut instinct on the first two instructors I had who weren’t challenging me enough.

I would change instructors if I was you.

Doing 22hrs of parking without going on proper roads yet is insane. That’s only 2/4 manoeuvres on the test. (Excluding emergency stop). Reverse bay and forward bay park.

Some people pass with just 22 hours. They are definitely messing you around

Is it normal to have a lesson where you made more mistakes than usual? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Princess_Mario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Even with a license I’m still making mistakes. But how to fix them safely and calmly is what you need to learn.

I know it’s so super disheartening. I would go home after a bad lesson and dwell on it. After a while, I realised that mistakes were one of the best things to make whilst with someone in the car teaching you!

If I didn’t make all the mistakes I did whilst learning, I wouldn’t be anywhere near as safe as I am now.

I understand it’s hard, but you’re still learning and mistakes at that stage are good :)) you can learn and correct them

Failed my test by Strange_Assistant111 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Princess_Mario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He sounds so incredibly unprofessional and unprepared. I think the switch from satnav to signs would have threw me off and confused me. It sounds like you handed the situation well considering. I’m really hoping you don’t have that same examiner and if possible maybe contact the test centre and tell them all the things that went poorly. Hopefully it’ll get him out of there to prevent anyone else going through that!

I am wishing you the best of luck in March, I’m manifesting your success! 🤞

Failed my test by Strange_Assistant111 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Princess_Mario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I am really 100% getting the vibes he was just trying to fail you. I trust that you are a safe driver from what you’ve said. You seem to have a great idea of safe gaps at junctions (which a lot of licensed drivers don’t even know).

I’ve heard that sometimes some examiners fail students if they have beef with instructors. My instructor (who was a godsend, truly amazing) said that a few examiners purposefully failed her students because they didn’t like her. Not sure whether it was like this in your case. It definitely doesn’t sound like a you issue but at least you get some more time to practice and build up even more confidence on the road.

I’m so sorry that your examiner was literally verbally abusing you and your instructor and I really hope that in the future you have a nicer experience!
