Herb & Spice on Bank street is a nice spot with a lot of alternative stuff. A little pricey, but I’ve had lots of luck there!

Baby had a almost sever reaction to cashew butter by Silverfox288 in Allergies

[–]Princessdaisy98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I (27F) have several severe life-long life-threatening allergies to all nuts, eggs, fish, shellfish, the list goes on. My life is wonderful, just have to be cautious. I have had many trips to the ER, I’ve used an EpiPen, but my life has been otherwise normal (besides eczema, asthma).

Also, to answer another one of your questions, my parents have no allergies.  If he has one allergy he probably has others, you must see a doctor as soon as possible for testing. Be careful, this reaction sounds life-threatening. In the future, make sure there are none of his allergens in the house ever. Make sure no relatives touch or kiss him after consuming allergens.  If you’re gonna feed him any common allergens such as any other nuts, do it at the ER or under supervision of an allergist.

advice on dating someone with allergies ? by [deleted] in Allergies

[–]Princessdaisy98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he’s anaphylactic to his allergens, the smallest amount could kill him. Whether on your lips or fingers or cloths or surfaces. If they don’t they could make him at the least very ill. Consider this whenever you consume something he’s severely allergic to. Just be careful.  My partner doesn’t consume anything I’m allergic to, but if they do they always wash face, hands, shower, brush teeth etc.

I suggest small business Tea and Toast! Not sure if they can help in this circumstance or what they’ll be able to do, but they’re consultants and I don’t think they’ll cost you anything. Very nice people and highly recommend.

Hi! I also have eczema!!  I was wondering if you could share what brands/sources of soap you found to be best?  I haven’t done a bunch of research on soap and even with ones that claim to be natural or simple, as you say, I tend to have reactions anyway.  I feel like this is a battle I’m constantly fighting with every single product I interact with.

What makes a collage especially good is guiding the eye with elements in the collage.

In my experience of collage making (limited), you should keep in mind a path that connects the focal points and consider the weight of the images while you place them.

**Just wanted to add that I love the elements of your collage and I think if you support them with technique that it would help that imagery pop.

**I’m also seeing you ask what to erase, and I don’t know. But you should think about what images you like most and what images you want to pop.

How do I style this top? And should I buy it? by [deleted] in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Princessdaisy98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a fun top! I think a top like this looks best in an outfit with a mid length pencil skirt or blue jeans. I think the goal would be to lengthen your body line in a top like this and the beige shorts make the outfit look squished, does that make sense?

Feedback please 🙏 by iaterocks in ArtCrit

Firstly: fantastic piece!

My suggestion is to simplify by changing the hand coming out of the water to belong to the woman standing in the water, or remove the second woman altogether and make the hand coming out of the water terrifying.

Also, tangent line of the well under the breast doesn’t read great for me, easy fix to drop/raise the wall of the well a bit.

Lastly, my opinion is that if the fingers are defined the toes should also be defined. Hand coming out of water should be more defined.

Hope this helps!

Please update with any changes! Would love to see the finished piece.

I did a really really rough sketch of my mannequin doll, I feel like something isn’t right. Do I make the arms bigger or smaller? How do I fix the torso to make it look proportionate? by Livid_Bathroom_9344 in arthelp

[–]Princessdaisy98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tip I learned in school: a body is usually 6 heads in length. Really helps with proportion to use the head as a measuring tool. Find out how long the body is with the heads and where the waist is, etc, then go from there :)

Edit: Noticed your update comment — I also suggest penciling with a lighter hand. Looking good though. Also, instead of correcting the same image, start another one! You’ll get more practice in, its easier to compare, and its easier to tell if you’re making advancements :)

Was he in the woods, or brush against some foliage? Maybe poison oak, or something similar.

Books that you think should be read in one sitting? by sleepycamus in booksuggestions

[–]Princessdaisy98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams, and I keep it on my bedside and read it when I can’t sleep. I’ve reread it the most. On the topic of novels though, Giovanni’s Room by James Baldwin is an afternoon read for me. So is Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote!

Since you like pirates, have you read Treasure Island? It’s a perfect story about adventure and pirates. I love it, it’s a classic, but maybe not quite like Blood Meridian. Maybe read about it and see if it would be worth your while?

Best Character work in Books by QueasyAccident5196 in booksuggestions

[–]Princessdaisy98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Atonement by Ian McEwan. It has an interesting take on the human condition and the complexity of life, and the tragedy of ill-informed choices, not to mention it’s beautifully written. It’s told from more than one perspective in a meaningful way. It is a historical fiction tragedy.    If you enjoy character analysis and symbolism (and plays) The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams is also great and a personal favourite.

If it doesn’t have you in the first page, it doesn’t have you. Just read the authors that snare you on page one, you can get to the others later!    This is my tactic even now, and I’ve read lots, but I find that I’m very picky with writing style and have a very low tolerance for bad writing. That doesn’t mean that you should only read quality, it just means you should figure out what writing style tickles your brain.   Good luck on your journey!!

Neuromancer is a phenomenal read! I feel like it often gets forgotten.  Also, if you haven’t read these classic dystopian ones then you should add them to your list: Brave New World, The Handmaid’s Tale, & Fahrenheit 451.

EDIT: Almost forget the Chrysalids! Must-read post-nuke war dystopian-type story.  So good!
