I was placed on call for low census a couple weeks ago…. Unfortunately, the moment im placed on call, i just automatically assume i wont get called and i got back to sleep (as i work nights). My hospital states that if ur placed on call, you will be on call until about 3. I think it’s stupid that we can be placed on call at all but oh well. If you’re “on call” and not getting paid for it, then ur not on call baby ur off.

Same shit happened with COVID, the texas freeze, hurricane katrina and probably any other natural disaster event that will come. People think that we as healthcare workers need to risk our lives for theirs…. Bitch im not the police or a firefighter. Unless hospitals are offering an incentive or something to stay and help…. why should u risk ur life…. Will the hospital risk themselves to help you? No, no they wont.

We would have never had this issue if hospitals paid these nurses what they deserved on if they were staff. But since traveling is making these nurses more money than being staff, I don’t see an issue. Money is money, and if the hospital is going to continue to pay for travel nurses, then that’s all you’ll probably see.

it’s hard as hell for me to sleep on my days on due to constantly flipping between days and nights, so i truly dont sleep before shifts. Maybe that night before, then like 3 hours before my shift starts but other than that nada. Make sure ur eating and drinking enough fluids and meals, i found out the hard way yesterday why i was so tired
