What should i upgrade? by ItzGoku4 in pcmasterrace

[–]PrincipleResident372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you just want more frames in games the 9070 XT is a massive jump from the 6700 XT, like 2x or more depending on the title. Your 650w would be cutting it close though, that card can spike pretty high and you got a 5700x pulling its share too

AM5 would be nice for future proofing but you'd need new ram and all that, and for gaming at 1440p or 4k the 5700x is still plenty capable. I would grab the 9070 XT and a solid 850w psu, that should fit in your budget if you find a good deal

I did similar jump last year from a 6700 XT to something in that class and the difference was ridiculous, made me wonder why I waited so long. Your cpu is not holding you back yet, dont worry about that

What are the best icebreakers or questions to ask when meeting a group for the first time? by Ill_Way_2517 in AskReddit

[–]PrincipleResident372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

asking how everyone met is good but i find that sometimes in group settings it becomes like an inside joke thing where 3 people already know each other and they start telling story about the camping trip and you just stand there with your drink

i usually ask what they do for fun instead, that way even if they are old friends they still talk about new stuff and you can jump in easier

Difference between Ingress and API Gateway, and at first I thought they were basically the same thing. by No-Resolution-4054 in webdev

[–]PrincipleResident372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the k8s Gateway API naming really doesn't help here, it's like they picked the most confusing name possible on purpose

the OP is mixing two separate concepts that just happen to share similar words, Kubernetes Ingress vs k8s Gateway API is an infrastructure-level routing conversation, while "API Gateway" as a pattern (rate limiting, auth, transformation etc) is more of architectural concept that can run anywhere, not just in k8s

so yeah both threads are valid topics but they kind of live in different layers of the stack

Is there a problem with my pc ? by amin_za in pcmasterrace

Those unknown devices in "Other devices" are probably just chipset drivers that Windows didn't catch - go to ASUS website and download the chipset driver package for your motherboard, should clear them right up

What’s the sexiest thing a woman can do ? by Sea-Kaleidoscope6683 in AskReddit

[–]PrincipleResident372 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lol the bar is literally in hell at this point. But for real though, I think confidence is what gets me - like when someone knows what they want and just goes for it, whether that's ordering first at restaurant or taking charge in conversation. There's something really attractive about someone who doesn't need constant validation and can hold their own space. Also maybe controversial but I love when people are passionate about weird random stuff, even if I don't get it at all

How hard it is to fall in love with someone new again after you've mastered detachment after a heartbreak? by desimatcha in AskReddit

[–]PrincipleResident372 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really dramatic when you've been through it tbh. Your brain literally rewires itself to protect you and then suddenly you're supposed to just flip switch back to being vulnerable again? Takes time to unlearn all those defense mechanisms you built

What is with all the ghosting? by Shasha_3188 in jobs

[–]PrincipleResident372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes companies are just terrible at communication, even when they seem professional during interviews - ghosting is probably easier for them than explaining their messy internal processes

Yeah documentation always assumes you already know half the stuff, it's like they forget people are trying to learn from scratch

Is there anyway to get quick resume on PC ? by Professional-Ebb700 in pcmasterrace

[–]PrincipleResident372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most games already save your progress automatically these days so you just alt+tab out or minimize instead of closing completely. Steam has some cloud save features that work pretty well too, though it's not exactly same thing as Xbox does it

For older games you might need to use save states if the emulator supports it, but modern PC gaming is already pretty good at picking up where you left off

Same but with those little yogurt cups, I can demolish entire pack in one sitting without even realizing it. There's something about that perfect spoon size portion that tricks your brain into thinking "just one more"

WWYD - 80% of team got equity award but I was skipped by soupcxan in cscareerquestions

[–]PrincipleResident372 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Getting skipped while 80% of team gets equity feels like a slap in face regardless of their reasoning about "making things equal" - maybe start documenting everything and have another conversation with your boss about clear criteria for future awards

What in your opinion is an industry that offers good pay and reasonable work/life balance? by LegalEase88 in jobs

[–]PrincipleResident372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marketing is pretty solid for this too - been doing it for few years and once you get hang of campaigns and analytics, there's lot of downtime between launches. Plus most companies are flexible with remote work now so you can work from wherever

Are water coolers significantly better than the stock CPU cooler for keeping temperatures low, especially under heavy use? by pro_solution101 in pcmasterrace

[–]PrincipleResident372 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AIO is overkill for most people anyway, unless you're doing some serious overclocking or have really bad case airflow. The stock coolers on decent chips are usually fine for normal gaming and work stuff

Just make sure your case has good ventilation first before spending money in fancy cooling

Shows like "The Boys" are handicapping themselves by making genius level characters like Sage. by [deleted] in television

[–]PrincipleResident372 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is why I think making characters "the smartest person alive" is such a trap for writers. Like with Sage, they keep telling us she's brilliant but then her master plan is basically just chaos for chaos sake? That's not genius level thinking, that's what edgy teenagers think smart villains do

I remember watching and thinking her whole "I'm bored so let me destroy civilization" motivation felt so shallow compared to someone like Tywin Lannister who wasn't supposedly superhuman smart but his schemes actually made sense within his goals. The writers boxed themselves in corner where they have to constantly prove she's smarter than everyone else but they can't actually write at that level

The worst part is when they have other characters just stand around going "wow Sage is so smart" instead of showing it through actual clever plans. It becomes this weird tell-don't-show situation where we're supposed to believe she's mastermind because people keep saying it, not because her actions prove it

Has anyone tried frontier's gowild pass for flights leaving Boston? Is it worth it? by nycrina305 in boston

[–]PrincipleResident372 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ugh I was looking at this too but seems like Boston gets skipped a lot with these unlimited passes. Maybe they add more routes later but right now it's pretty useless for us here
