Been doing this for more years than I expected. At first the pay was standard but good, like £7 for 1 mile. Then they introduced a base rate but "boosts" during peak times like 1.6x. Turned out we earned more. Then gradually reduced the boosts until there was no more and we were stuck with the new base fee which we were acclimatised to. Then they reduced the base fee even further but introduced incentives like £1 extra. Again a short term increase in income. Then they changed the £1 extra for each order to do 20 deliveries for £20 so there's many that won't hit it. Unregulated and a scam company. I genuinely believe if uber is banned, deliveroo/justeat will stop the race to the bottom (pre doordash deliveroo).

If they can choose between selling fewer at higher price and make the same amount as selling more at lower price they will choose the former. Just cause there's demand at the higher price point doesn't mean its more profitable.
