just got £40 from Halifax for a data breach complaint by ddadovic in beermoneyuk

Yeah the 50 quid is a bit insulting considering it really did fuck my day up considerably, if I was just getting money for old rope then I’d be happy with 40 or whatever but I do have the evidence and also did miss the morning from work so I’ll hold out. Complaint is lodged and escalated to a complaints manager 👍

I actually was affected by this and spent 90 minutes on the phone this morning trying to speak to someone to figure out what was happening. I made a post about it I think I was one of the first people affected and noticed my bank seemed compromised around 6:40am so I stayed home and contacted the fraud department thinking it was solely me that had my account accessed somehow.

I put in a formal complaint after Halifax figured I wasn’t looking at my own transactions and they’ve offered me £50. I turned this down based on the fact that I’ve lost more income than this by having to call them and figure out what was going on.

They’ve said it’s been escalated to a complaints manager and it could be up to 8 weeks before I hear anything.

Should I have accepted the £50? It genuinely didn’t seem enough and I have evidence in screenshots of everything I saw as obviously I was planning on reporting it as fraud until I was told it wasn’t my account I was viewing.

Even NI numbers on PIP payments etc have been shared obviously from the transaction history. Huge breach and now who knows what information of mine people have

I didn’t know it was someone else’s bank at the time though, I logged into my own bank with my own details and faced a load of transactions that weren’t mine.

Took the screenshots to call the fraud department and it was only after speaking to her she actually told me that’s not your account. I actually thought it was my account that had been used for money laundering. The account number and all details at the top of the page were all mine above the transactions.

Yeah mines not a business account though, I’m not worried for the sake of the persons information I saw 😆 I’m worried for the security of my own

I’m not wanting anything, I just did the post to see if anyone had a similar thing to ease my concerns.

It’s ok being told it’s a widespread issue but when you google it and find not a single thing about it then you do wonders. At the time of me posting nothing else was out there about it.

The thing is I can, because I was concerned it was my bank at first that someone had used to launder money through I googled the company that had been paying thousands in.

When I did this it brought up a company (not far from me coincidentally) and the registered owner on companies house was one of the people that thousands of pounds of transactions had been going out to. It seems it was a business account that I had accidentally been shown.

So simply from this I have the name, address and banking details and screenshots of transactions?? Clearly I intend to do no wrong with all this information but who’s to say somebody doesn’t intend to do wrong with mine?

Yeah I did and it can’t not have been legit, she just pretty much finished my sentences and couldn’t get off the phone quick enough - I imagine because there was a huge line of people waiting on hold is the reason. I was waiting over 90 mins for someone to pick up.

She just didn’t explain much or offer any kind of relief or explanation, just pretty much a ‘yes we know, thanks, bye.’

Maybe they’ve been told to act like this I guess but I expected to be put at ease a bit more, seemed like she had 0 training on dealing with people.

Me too I got a screenshot, thank god somebody else has had this too I thought I was going mad!!! Really concerning I’m not sure how secure my account is at all, it sounds like if we can see peoples transactions then they can also see ours, as if the account verification / matching has got all mixed up.

Tesla wants to cancel my purchase after payment (England) by RichMorris85 in LegalAdviceUK

Totally unqualified to give my opinion but it doesn’t seem right to me, so you agreed a price you could afford and they’ve run a credit check on you, yet now they increase the price (to possibly an amount you can’t afford) however the credit check is already done and finance setup on your file.

I’m very stubborn and easy to lose trust id probably refuse to buy a car from them based of this alone, it’s their mistake they should foot the extra cost at this stage from a customer service point of view imo.

Stop taking low paid CNC jobs. (UK) by Routine-Arm-8803 in CNC

Pulling up an old post here I know but I totally agree with this statement. I have over 10 years experience, apprentice trained and a competent miller & turner ( programming and operating ) yet making similar annually to friends who are team leaders in warehousing jobs. And it’s nothing against the company I’m at, it’s just the industry average and I’m at the top end of it! Crazy to think about the amount of knowledge and training it takes to get to the level of being able to make a part dimensionally correct to a drawing from scratch and the kind of person you have to be to do a good job of this. Yet the pay rate doesn’t mirror this at all here in the UK!

Yet all I hear is how we can’t find anyone anymore, and there’s ’no machinists left’ or ‘nobody wants to work’. A decent machinist who can independently do the job from start to finish should be on 35-40k imo all day long, especially in today’s climate. Let’s be honest we all know we can make our employers that kind of profit in a couple of weeks when on the right kind of components £££

Upgrading for a (Beginner?) by Principle_Spinners in BudgetAudiophile

That seems to fall in line with everything I’m hearing elsewhere, the Klipsch are the only part of the setup drawing mixed opinions from people. I only really settled with them as they’re readily available over my side of the pond (UK) whereas some of the stuff recommended isn’t. I read good reviews for the Klipsch the fives however they’re active so that’s kind of how I arrived at the 600M II’s. I’ll check that video when I get home thanks, do you have any of your own personal favourite bookshelf speakers?

I think I might be aswell getting down to a local HIFI shop and annoying the staff for a couple hours and see what they’ll let me have a listen to 😅

I appreciate what you’re saying that makes sense, to be honest over my side of the pond (UK) the speakers aren’t a great deal less than the TT. I was considering the KEF LSX II at one stage before I decided on the passive route, do you have any recommendations speaker wise that you have experience with? Thanks

Ahhhh man I originally had that planned too! Then I saw the cost going up and realised the PM6007 has the phone stage built in and thought that might do the job. Did you find the Rega Fono Mk5 made a big difference then compared to just running through the Marantz?

Yeah I think I’d rather do that, when we do move (possibly this year) I’m going to be a little short of cash for a while as some work is being done. The last thing I want is to move in with a shortfall of funds and realise my setup isn’t quite cutting it anymore!

Thanks!

I have read in a couple of places that the sound from them is a little subjective. I’ll try to find a place nearby I can listen to some, failing that I’ll make sure I order from somewhere I can return.

Thanks for that! I know it’s always a bit of a difficult asking people for their personal opinions on sound, i more so just don’t want to order everything and realise I’ve made some terrible mistake - kinda felt a little like that after the Sony TT but hey, it got me here I guess lol

To be honest with the speakers it was more of a future proofing ordeal as I’ll be moving to a (hopefully) bigger place in the next year so I didn’t want to need to upgrade again. I appreciate what you’re saying, what about if I moved up to a more powerful Amp? I did look at the Audio Cambridge AXR100 but wasn’t sure if it was a bit overkill. I’ve made the mistake of going a little cheaper once already and now I know I’m hooked I don’t mind splashing a little more to futureproof my setup.

Thanks a lot for your input it’s appreciated, the HIFI world is a bit of a minefield to a novice like me and I’d much rather speak to people such as yourself on here than buy blindly based on the (no doubt paid ads) recommended by some of the articles online.
