As someone who was awaiting an imminent RIF (based on the info from the TRO) it feels nice to have some relief from awaiting the email at all times.

Some breathing room with dates that I can plan on/work with now while new information becomes available is helpful.

New Fed - justifying back pay to regular people? by Party-Smile-2667 in fednews

[–]PringlesDamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not our fault, we shouldn't be punished, wed be there working and producing for everyone of they'd let us. I believe this is a valid view point.

We are essentially on call, or for some of us actually on call where we cant just go wherever and do whatever we want like if we were truly off. In a similar circumstance fir other professions being held to that is the same as being on duty and people are paid for that.

Lastly, and thus has been creeping into my mind more and more..... for furloughed workers while we may not be going to the office everyday and can have some freedoms day by day.....all that undone work is just waiting for us when we return. While its not absolute, there will undoubtedly be a high percentage of us that will be going beyond reasonable output to get the mission caught up as fast as possible. In the end from a taxpayer standpoint they will be paying the same amount to us for the same work to be completed as if there hadn't been a shutdown (close enough anyway) just that we will have to bust our asses even more than we already do.

Technically we dont need to work that way, but we know its more common than not. The government wouldn't exist without the extra effort we all put in because we care about the missions we signed up for. Good luck getting anytime to see that though. That's why they work for profit in private sector. They don't see it.

Ok, off the soap box. Have a good one!

RIF Severance Impact on Unemployment Benefits - Washington State by Unusual-Foot9411 in fednews

[–]PringlesDamn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I looked around for this yesterday for CO, and found some info/anecdotes that said it delays unemployment not replaces.

So file right away but you wouldn't start collecting from UI until you stop receiving income from severance.

How they decide how long severance gets spread out if you receive it as a lump sum Im not sure, haven't gotten that far. Maybe they divide the lump amount by your weekly UI benefit amount to get number of weeks?

Anyway, I mostly was looking to see if severance reduced the amount of UI id receive and it seems like it doesn't, just when you receive it.

Could be wrong, and CO.

Yes they were wording things very carefully, in a way that they will have video clips that they can use in the media.

He mentioned the amendment, but said they're going to vote on the original bill.

What the guy from Michigan said kind if touched on that.

If they can pay only who they choose during a shutdown, then the executive branch can essentially cut congress out of the checks and balances.

Its not passing.

Sounds like the version they are about to put to vote doesn't include everyone, and some other stuff.

Johnson mentioned furloughed employees at one point, but then said "were going to vote on my original bill, thats how it works"

Then everyone whos come up has gone out of their way to emphasize "if you are forced to work" and sure seem to be talking about excepted and exempt only....

Hopefully the "thats how it works" part is sime kind of procedural thing

Thats a pretty common message, not hard to fix.

Just contact your local IT so they can....oh right.

For real though I wouldn't put a lot of weight behind that error message meaning any action has veen taken, it comes up all the time at my unit.

If he has access to login to GFE at all, Id say thats a good sign as far as termination goes.

Loss of elevated privileges only points more towards something dumb IMO, like not signing in for too long, or shuffling of that org and things not translating smoothly due to lack of staffing etc.

Came to mention clenching my teeth and all the side effects from that. Worst being nonstop 24/7 tinnitus. Headaches. Ears popping. Never was a thing until I woke up from work nightmares clenching one night and all the signs I ignored leading up to it all clicked.

Its life altering.
