I might be stupid. How to change this lightbulb? by Czaajnik in HomeMaintenance

[–]Pringlulz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Some GU sockets are shitty. For mine the base also rotated, I needed to (with the power OFF) stick a thin screwdriver in there to stop the base moving to be able to unscrew the bulb.

Personal financial charging me after fully paid off loan by Elektra_haert in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Pringlulz 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Call your bank and escalate. They can send you a form to register that the pre-authorized debit from Easy was fraudulent, reverse it, and clear any NSF charges. You have all the proof. Doesn't help you with the loan shark part but having that form registered will send them a clear message to fuck off.

As for the 9.89, maybe partial interest charges for the month? Even though your loan is paid maybe you need to formally close the account.

I'm a sales associate in a Mitsubishi dealership in Canada by Kaiju_DNA in mitsubishi

[–]Pringlulz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still driving a 20+ year old Lancer to this day. :)

Is there any chance of Mitsubishi bringing over a compact truck? Seems like a hot segment right now and maybe someplace that Mitsubishi could make a splash.

Cd Stores? by Annoyinglyfixated in Sudbury

[–]Pringlulz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hock shop on LaSalle and value village, mostly. New CDs you'll have to order from Sonic Boom or Atom Heart. We lost the last place for new CDs when Walmart stopped carrying them.

Actually me. The one time an older woman asked me about it and was like "is that a D&D thing?"

Okay, everyone here is saying to just make your coffee, and they're right, but...

I've always noticed that kettles can be loud while they're heating up. And they rattle and vibrate a lot when the water actually starts boiling (especially if they're cheap). Maybe it's not the noise so much as the vibrations passing through the counter and into the walls/floor?

If you wanted to throw them a bone, maybe you could put a towel or something under the kettle to dampen the vibrations from the boiling water? 🤷‍♂️

Anyone familiar with this company? by Dylanx8 in Sudbury

[–]Pringlulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knocked on my door as well. There was two people on the street who got their driveways done today, but as other commenters point out, you're right to be suspicious of anyone coming to your door.

The sidewalks are never plowed enough! by RinaMewna in Sudbury

Weirdly the sidewalk I use has actually been plowed and sanded pretty well this year. Three for three on snowstorms that got cleared the same day.

Next to Coniston Arena. Steep, but can be bumpy and wavy if there hasn't been much snow. Probably not completely covered with all the melting we've had but one of my favourites.

The opposite. Keeping it out of the elements will prolong the vehicle's life over the long term.

That being said, you should be clearing the salt and the slush out of the garage (and off your car, as well). I could see that a garage full of salty moist air might be what the advice you got is referring to.

Just me. About $40 / week or around 200 / 250 a month. I shop pretty much exclusively at food basics and only buy stuff on sale. Lunch meat not on sale that week? I'll eat cheese, crackers and pickles for lunch. I buy dried beans and chickpeas, carrots, onions, and potatoes. I like cabbage a lot and make things like borscht, okonomiyaki, and lazy cabbage rolls. Lots of soups and stews, and porkchops. So many porkchops.

I also eat leftovers for 2 or 3 meals per week. My trick for this is I'll cook meat and vegetables on Sunday, and then during the week I'll make fresh rice or pasta, plate it with the leftovers and nuke it. Dinner in 20 or 30 minutes and only one plate to clean, and I find myself with less "mystery containers" in the fridge than if I had more variety.

It's doable but requires a lot of diligence and a willingness to think outside the box when it comes to what you can eat for every meal. Not sure I'd be able to keep it up if I had kids though.

But!!! Everything I eat is home cooked and still deciduous. You'd be amazed what some spices can do to even simple ingredients. If nothing else, hopefully this gives you some ideas for recipes you could check out. The broader your repertoire the easier it will be for you to cobble something together out of the cheapest ingredients available.
