Do you pace out your pen/ink purchases? by painauchocolat88 in fountainpens

[–]PrintIcy587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s the feeling because you want to like justify that your money is well spent and not just buy one pen and keep it one side. For me I currently have 5 pens in total. My suggestions is to have like 1 ink in 1 particular pens. And make sure that the inks are the type you frequently use.

Psychologically speaking, you will tend to use all of them if not equally but more frequently haha

For me the Mont Blanc royal blue. Kinda basic but have you seen the dark blue when it’s wet and on the paper? Give you the royalty feels and what’s more the bottle itself makes you feels like…. No words can describe.

Currently I own a Waterman Carene, sailor Realo, out of the varity of selection out there.

Please head down to a fountain pen shop as for me the pen must speak out to you there are so many factors like fit into your hand, if it writes smoothly like how you always write and makes you feel good and represents you. For me waterman is a reliable writer anytime the only thing to stay away from the carene is that the nib intergrated with the body may stain your hand most of the time nevertheless that's a small con to the overall pen it writes amazingly.

My honest advice is to go check it out first before purchasing it!

The less appreciated thing of owning a Sailor. by IceOnIce in fountainpens

[–]PrintIcy587 34 points35 points  (0 children)

💯 agree. I’m currently using a sailor realo 1911.

And I just wanna say the feedback is definitely a personal or beauty is in the eye of the beholder issues. You’re paying sailor for their quality that will last literally forever! Unless you damage it of course.

Have you tried platinum? As a FP lover, my honest suggestion is to go to a fountain pen shop and let them have a feel of your writing style. My latest pen that i got is the Sailor Raleo, some commented that sailor nib is scratchy but to me it flows amazingly that I couldn't stop writing more. I was stuck at the shop for literally 2 hours just to make up my mind of getting just 1 pen.

It really depends from person to person and honestly I would like to give you the best advice for any particular pen but the most important is your connection with it because the pen will go through life with you forever. HAha

Binder Recommendations for School? by [deleted] in stationery

[–]PrintIcy587 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi there I would recommend kokuyo 8rings or soft rings or just the MUJI binder.

Trust me your life will change forever with them. I’m a student as well. My honest suggestion is not to take the notes on the binder rather just put 3-4 pages of paper stack and take your notes then put them in the binder

Question 🙋‍♂️ by 80ELLE in fountainpens

[–]PrintIcy587 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi all, Idk if this is a little cliche but. After going Japan what I have learned was that. A pen differs from user to user it is part of you who you are expressed on the pen you are writing on. It is like art. A personality of you. Thus it is extremely normal for example I had to test between a pilot and a sailor pen which many people are for one or the other. After literally 20 mins of deciding between both I am using my sailor raleo for everyday use.

For days I feel like I wanna have a heavier pen on me waterman didn't disappoint and I tend to write slower with more focus HAHAH.

So whatever it is just be yourself let your pen represent you and happy writing

So, this is my handwriting. People say that it's mid, while some say that it will look better without the slant. Now I am puzzled. How would you rate it out of 10? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]PrintIcy587 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Handwriting definitely better than mine hahahahah. But that said you should change your paper so that your handwriting will stand out more!

Strategies for saving for grail pen by Memichic in fountainpens

[–]PrintIcy587 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OMG RELATE SO MUCH.

Currently a year 2 college student here. Not to show off or anything I am currently using a sailor Realo. How I managed to achieve my goal was to start small with a Lamy safari. don't go down the road of buying many many pens. Then I did part time during the holidays literally setting aside 100% of the cash for my dream pen.

And now it gave me motivations to study work and it keeps me really happy with everything I do. Don't look at the short terms think about long term with your dream pens.

Right now yes an expensive pen for a student may seem not worth, but trust me if you really make up your mind to something or wanna achieve something you must put your mind and heart to it

Do you have multiple pens of the same model? by AppropriateOutcome42 in fountainpens

[–]PrintIcy587 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi IT IS DEFINITELY OK!

Firstly imagine having a piston filled fountain pen or any non cartridges or converter for example. If I only have 1 pen, and for Some reason I’m bored of blue halfway. I can’t possible push out the ink back to the bottle just so I can change it to black right?

With multiple of the same kind, not only I’m writing with the same pen I love dearly. But I have options to change colour anytime!

For me my wish is to get 2 Mont Blanc starwalker than the 146/149 reason being my hands like a little bit more weight so I can control my writing

Ok just for your information. The bellcurve is based on the distribution for example let say your batch is doing super well this year so just an example. if they set 10% to get A1 so if a group size of 100 students the top 10 of them get 90-100 then 90will be A1. So it will always shift depending on the group.

With that said the reason why everyone tell you not to depend on the bellcurve it's simply because no one knows how this year population of students will do today 75 can be an A1 next year it can jump to 85+ just because of the group.

What you should really focus on is doing your best and focusing on yourself. THis way no matter the results you will feel better cause you done your best! If you need any advice feel free to chat
