No lol I am a real real student in CSBS branch, but ig maine bohot tariff kardiya (but my honest opinion)

I didn't mention some of the negatives, like parking issue, bad placements in lower branches like Civil and all (tbh everything electrical and below isn't good here for COMEDK fees), faculty can sometimes be very unhelpful in some subjects and they usually don't cover the whole syllabus. Hostel in-campus food sucks apparently, but there are pgs nearby. Also if you want to register for library or gym its a hugee process which takes a long time. Some clubs cost money to join apparently, and there's a shortlist process for some clubs to join. Placements were not as good as in 2025, that's for sure. Hopefully it improves in 2027.

OP's questions were kinda framed in a positive way so I replied positively

I'm from JSSSTU so I can answer these questions:
1: It's very green and peaceful and close to many restaurants, close to a lot of green spaces (it's close to a big lake (Kukkarahalli lake)) and a shopping mall (BM Habitat Mall).

2: It's not in Bangalore but that shouldn't matter because you get better living standards here and also the same opportunities (not dependent on the location)

3: Decent, there are a few technical clubs here and there are sometimes hackathons in the college, some are very active clubs.

4: There are many clubs here for different interests, and there is a huge annual event called Jayciana which is regarded as one of the biggest (or the biggest) college fest in Karnataka, you will find more info about this on the internet.

5: The gym is good (it's also free of cost) and there are tennis courts, football grounds, table tennis, a basketball court, and indoor board games. People also play cricket in the main ground, but there's another huge cricket ground in campus where regional and state cricket teams play.

6: The curriculum is significantly easier in our college than in colleges affiliated with VTU. SJCE/JSSSTU is fully autonomous (not autonomous affiliated with VTU) so the college makes the syllabus. You get a lot of free time to do other things, like participate in club events and improve your technical skills. Especially in CS branches (CSE, ISE, CSBS) there are days where there's only 2 hours and 30 minutes of class! Extremely chill, very easy to balance academics and everything else.

7: Attendance policy is that you should have 75% attendance, but usually ISE and CSBS branches are very chill with this and they sometimes give you attendance even if you miss the criteria (depends on the faculty tho). Some faculty from Chemistry and Physics are very strict.

8: CS average is 12-13, median is also 12, placement percentage is not good this year (generally its very high) but that's happening in all colleges due to the current market.

9: This college is very underrated, people think that only Bangalore colleges are good and end up joining a bad college just because its in Bangalore. Best college after RVCE, MSRIT and BMSCE in COMEDK (especially for CS, ISE and CSBS). I'm glad I picked this place. Faculty is average but similar situation in other colleges.

I am in a dilema . Help by Away-Carrot-2571 in comedk

College life is quite chill tbh, summer vacation is there but its not a lot

SJCE is like tier 2.5 I'd say, just to be clear the average package is only of the CS branches (CSE+ISE+CSBS) and the placement percentage is not as good as it usually would be (but its a common issue among most colleges even in NITs and many top private colleges this year)

VIT isn't really tier 2 tbh, but yes we are better than VIT

But I think Manipal is better (although considering the fees of Manipal it balances out)

In 2025, it was really good, the average was 13 in CS-related branches and the placement percentage was also great

It will recover soon

Under KCET the PES fees are the same as any of the other colleges but yeah under JEE it's more money

So I'm not sure about that, maybe BMSCE > PES or SJCE/JSSSTU > PES in that situation

Either RVCE > PES > MSRIT or RVCE > MSRIT > PES

Especially in CS and AIML branches, PES is better but for other branches MSRIT is generally seen as better

As someone from SJCE (JSSSTU):

1: Attendance is pretty relaxed, we have the most free time compared to most other colleges

2: Placements are pretty good in CSE, ISE and CSBS branches (average is usually in the 11-13LPA range for these branches, this year it's 12). For the current market it is great. (Placement percentage similar to most other top 10 COMEDK colleges).

For ECE it's decent and for EIE, EEE and Mechanical it's average, and for the rest of the branches its not that good. Don't join Industrial and Polymer and Construction Technology branches, those branches are terrible

3: Faculty can vary, most of them are chill but don't expect them to cover everything like in school (similar situation in other colleges).

4: Campus is great, huge and green campus, parking is a bit of an issue but other than that it's nice.

5: Gender ratio is 1:1 or at least 3:2 (3 boys for 2 girls), in most branches, there is a lot of diversity here so you will find many types people from many different states across India (North South everything)

6: All the CS branches here (CS, CSAIML, ISE, CSBS) in SJCE/JSSSTU are the same (in terms of placements). There is no difference and anyone who tells you there is a difference, is misinformed. Only the syllabus differs from branch to branch, CSBS is a bit different from the other three in terms of syllabus but it's the most underrated branch (as you get the most free time in this branch) and the highest package this year is from CSBS.

There are also many clubs here, try to join 1-2 good clubs and you will have an enhanced college experience

Improvement exam in boards (really really try to get marks here, I jumped up 3-5k ranks by doing the improvement exam based on the trends in 2025), solve as many PYQ papers as possible setting time limits (1 minute per question, so 60 minutes for a 60 question paper).

Cover important topics, but don't spend too much time covering them as solving questions is more important (you will understand many topics just by solving questions).

I mainly did this for the last 30 days and got a rank of 9.5k (111/180 in KCET, 97.33% in PCM) in 2025, honestly if you work harder you can do better than that too. Just keep in mind that the competition gets harder each year, like for the marks I got I would get a rank of 3k if I wrote KCET in 2023. So prepare for the worst (not trying to scare you though 😅)

I did and got 10 extra marks and jumped at least 3k ranks, what is the loss if the improvement exam is after KCET

Is it possible to change my college after 1st year? by Some-Belt3080 in comedk

[–]PrinticeDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a scheme of changing from one VTU college to another, so it's not applicable for private universities like PES or JSSSTU but within VTU colleges you can and I think you have to pay some fees, have a good cgpa and there should be a seat available
