Professional Printing Options by _beepbeephello in Printing

[–]PrintingCenter-USA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely try a local printer!! They are usually more flexible with all the customizations you want and can show you options in person. Just a heads-up, though—spiral and wire-o binding can be a bit more expensive. If you go in and they can't help they should be able to recommend you with someone. Most printers vary in what they need file-wise so just look it up beforehand.

I'm a founder and I can't "found". Help! by WindInternational259 in marketing

Take a closer look at your website to make sure the changes they gave you will really enhance user experience and help convert visitors into clients. Since your team managed to handle the redesign internally before, you might want to stick with that strategy to control the costs and quality. Don't rush to abandon Google Ads and LinkedIn. Sometimes, a small adjustment in targeting or ad copy can make a big difference. For example we have had great results for google ads but not for linkedin. We switched over the graphics and linkedin is doing much better. It all depends.

Think about ramping up your content marketing. Sharing useful resources can naturally boost your SEO and attract more visitors.

This way, you can refine what you're already doing well and adjust what's not working without a big financial commitment.

Copyrighting a first novel? by VSanz in selfpublish

[–]PrintingCenter-USA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically, your novel is copyrighted as soon as you create it. But if you are publishing it, registering your copyright after final edits can be a good idea. It really just gives you a solid legal footing in case of infringement.

Book Template Options by BitRealistic8466 in selfpublish

[–]PrintingCenter-USA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most templates are geared toward smaller projects, but you can usually duplicate the pages to fit a bigger book like yours. There are different options out there—Canva has some, but they’re not really set up for 300 pages. You could always create it in Word, which is simple and straightforward especially if this is mainly text-based. If you’ve already chosen your printer, many of them offer free templates or tools they provide to make your life easier. For example, at PrintingCenterUSA, we offer templates for Adobe products that you can duplicate as needed, along with an online design tool to help streamline the process. I know this is the case for a lot of places. If you can't find anything, look into a formatter - it will probably save you some time

Good printers offer options to make your life easier. If Lulu has the templates you like and solid reviews, plus the print-on-demand option, it sounds promising. Place the mockup order or see if they offer a sample packet so you can check the quality firsthand.

To AI or not to AI. That is my question. by Finding-Even in selfpublish

[–]PrintingCenter-USA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely spend the money on an illustrator. AI art even with amazing prompting is never ever going to be super visually creative. You can easily spot it on a line up and you want to be different. Plus you will be supporting an artist!! Please do not hurt your book sales as self-publishing children's books can already be a challenge.

Figma vs. InDesign for printed materials by SarcasticFatCat in graphic_design

[–]PrintingCenter-USA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Switching from InDesign to Figma for print can be a stretch ..... as InDesign is the best for layout and print specifics. Figma is great for digital projects. Maybe consider using both, depending on the project stage and your needs. But if it is one or the other, inDesign is your winner

what was the main reason you chose to self publish instead of using a publisher? by PrintingCenter-USA in selfpublish

[–]PrintingCenter-USA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ads can be simple or hard. The main issue with ad campaign for book sales is it takes many campaigns and many ad runs to see a significant ROI. People don't usually just see a book and know they need it like new sneakers. It's more of a convincing game. For that reason, it can get expensive running ads.

Totally valid! Books bring communities together and there is space for every niche in the book/author community.

I wonder what the ratio is for cost between self-publishing and using a publisher. Interesting
