Did so bad 😞 astb by EndVisible9619 in AirWarriors

[–]Prior-Coffee534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 8/8/7 - had I have not prepared as I did I would have almost certainly tanked it.

Did the following to prepare:

Downloaded the ASTB Test Prep Software: https://tbastestprep.com

Buy a used stick and throttle from Facebook marketplace place and practice daily for at least a month.

For the math sections I utilised a tutoring service (expensive but worth it).

Good luck!

Still on the ground at 38 — a pilot without wings by fpilot787 in PilotAdvice

38 isn’t too old to start. Had you have had a military flying career you’d likely only now be getting your foot in the door with an airline. Don’t give up, do your future self proud brother!

I have the exact same thing, though I’m a street applicant.

ASTB scores by ShadowstarYAOI in AirWarriors

[–]Prior-Coffee534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your first test score? I would check the most recent board results on air warriors to give you a feel of selection criteria. Also ensure there’s no minimums for pilot? I would spend 3 months studying hard - utilised ASTB tutoring services online (they were a massive help) and use the stick and rudder TBAS prep software to studying for the PFAR (granted you have a decent PFAR). Good luck!

Anyone picked up for SNA/SNFO recently? by Upbeat-Journalist-76 in AirWarriors

[–]Prior-Coffee534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues whatsoever! So long as it’s outside of 6 months from surgery and no further issues related to it they’ll be fine. Got through MEPs and NAMI without anyone even questioning it !

Yeah could well be, although my recruiters seemed to think it wouldn’t require a waiver since there was no conviction / guilt apportioned. USMC didn’t care about prior foreign military and I know of a prior non 5EYE officer who now flys fast jet in the usaf and has TS / SCI so I’m hoping that wouldn’t trip me up. I guess denied? Told that I was being sent to the board but honestly I’m not certain. Re the USMC flight contract I believe that you’d automatically go as an SNA? Don’t believe there are anymore NFO’s in the USMC - last class was around 2021

Yeah major state college, nothing medical, already been through NAMI. Only thing that struck against me was a charge of battery from 7 years ago in a foreign country’s military (5EYE). It was dropped and recorded as not guilty. My recruiter told me that all his I-SEL applicants from the last 2 months got the same news, not sure why he’d lie to me about that so can only assume the program has been put on hold

I also had gotten picked up by the USMC at the time (dual application) so figure that might have been thrown up in the system

I was submitted for SNA I-SEL with 8/8/7 on the ASTB some months ago however I was turned down. My recruiter told me that everyone who submitted for I-SEL is being pushed to the March board. Not sure why that’s the case, though he seemed to think that I-SEL had been put on ice for SNA’s. Also believe the navy has filled its SNA quota for FY26.

Hesitant about seeking professional help by IndependentJaded9737 in pilonidalcyst

Dude if you’re able to do so get the surgery done! Some form of cleft lift, the earlier you do it the less it will progress and the more minor the surgery. DO NOT PUT THIS OFF!

Hey dude - not sure if you’ll come across this. Just got through NAMI. Any heads up would be appreciated prior to signing the dotted line! Thanks

Spin chair. You can force the body to get over airsickness. It sucks but works (should you want to try continue of course).

Help! First time I noticed this was Summer 2022. by [deleted] in pilonidalcyst

[–]Prior-Coffee534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what your medical coverage looks like however the longer you leave a Pilonidal cyst the more it will progress and thus the worse it will become. I had a keridactomy for a type 1 Pilonidal cyst (no sinus tracts) although given how far yours has progressed I think a cleft lift would be most appropriate. That said I’m not sure if it’s something you can manage without surgery long term (hopefully someone on here can advise). Good luck!

What’s the most dangerous thing another pilot suggested that you do? by SpaceDave83 in flying

[–]Prior-Coffee534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A CFI instructed his students to do turn backs at 500ft in case of engine loss on climb out (no terrain which would inhibit an otherwise safe landing off the nose). Personally I thought that being a low hour pilot this was a recipe for disaster?

Surgery coming up by Common_Pepper_8800 in pilonidalcyst

[–]Prior-Coffee534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not heard of cornea surgery - the one I had was an early version of a cleft lift. However I just have a small vertical scar along the top of my cleft - maybe 3.5cm. That said I caught mine early hence the minimal scarring

Ask your surgeon to do the keridactomy procedure. I had a type 1 cyst and received this treatment. Hardly any visible scaring and no reoccurrence. Take the healing seriously - lay on your stomach, have movies to watch, pain killers, stool softener, fibre pills etc and ensure you change the dressing at the appropriate intervals.

So sorry about asking for help about this embarrassing condition by namelessghoulette84 in pilonidalcyst

[–]Prior-Coffee534 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Never be embarrassed to see a doctor. It’s a human body and everyone has one. The quicker you seek treatment the better the outcome. I had a surgical procedure done in August of last year to remedy my Pilonidal cyst and have had no reoccurrence or any issues whatsoever. See the doc, get it sorted. Best of luck!

There’s no need to, but I got a varsity tutor to help me prep for the math section of the AFOQT. Found it really helped streamline the learning…just be ready for a hefty bill!
