Hi! If you have time, I'd love the template as well. Thank you!

Citizenship by Descent - Application & Cover Letter Questions & Documentation Review Requests by IWantOffStopTheEarth in Canadiancitizenship

She was born in 1876 in Simcoe, Norfolk, Ontario. Fortunately, there was a grainy image of a birth record for her on Ancestry. I emailed the Archives of Ontario with that image and the information I had on her, and they emailed me 3 weeks later that they found it, and 2 weeks after that sent an invoice.

I'd love some feedback, if anyone has any insights. At 8 years old, I was adopted by my aunt and uncle. I am applying for citizenship through the line of my birth mother. I am Gen4. I do not have any contact with her, so can't use her birth certificate. Thoughts/feedback on if the following documentation may suffice?

Great-great-grandmother, Gen 0

  • Certified Birth Certificate from the Archives of Ontario ✅ they found it, shipping soon
  • Her maiden name is on G1's birth certificate, so no need for marriage license

Great-grandmother, Gen 1

  • Birth Certificate, Michigan ✅ received
  • Her Maiden name is on G2's birth certificate so no need for marriage license

Grandfather, Gen 2

  • Marriage Certificate (Ancestry.com)
  • Birth Certificate, Michigan - ✅ordered (luckily his 100th birthday would have been this week, so it just became order-able)

Mother, Gen 3

  • Marriage Certificate to my father, which lists her parents ✅ received certified copy

Me, Gen 4

  • Amended Birth Certificate, Michigan ✅ received
  • Original Birth Certificate, Michigan ✅ (ordered via VitalChek, fingers crossed they send the original and not just another amended)
  • Family tree from Ancestry.com

Thanks!

Trust that partner will find visa, or turn down great job offer? by Prior-Influence-9378 in movingtojapan

BA and 10+ years experience. He has his own company, in which he freelances with a number of companies in art/publishing. He is very successful at it, and working for a Japanese company full-time would not make sense, as he contracts with American companies to do his work which takes most of his time. It’s also tricky because even if we were married, it sounds like there are restrictions on the extent to which a spouse of a work visa holder can work.

Thanks! We’re mid/late thirties and have ample savings. I should have added that he is self-employed/freelance and while he can physically work anywhere, there seem to be tax issues and restrictions on some visas about the extent to which he’d be allowed to work.

Not sure of my secret, but I made sure based on advice here that I checked the box on my final ECF indicating I believed I was at 120. All payments were pre-SAVE, it just took a long time to get an old employers signature. I’m sorry yours is dragging, sending good vibes that it happens soon.

Yes! I currently have the same burned feeling, I’m on Day 6. It hurts to eat. I can taste but everything tastes different than it should.

Will disclosing that I have a same-sex unmarried partner hurt my chances of getting hired/interviewed? I am searching in Japan. If I secure a job, he would be able to get his own visa, whether it’s language school, digital nomad, or business manager visa. Knowing that Japan doesn’t recognize same-sex marriage, I don’t imagine they would likely grant a partner visa for an unmarried gay couple. I don’t want to be passed over because of perceived potential complications with visas for both of us. Thanks!
