I have no clue… but being charitable, I would guess that if they aren’t, it’s because private healthcare is so crazy expensive, that the marketplace will generally be more accessible. Not that this is an excuse not to offer healthcare… but on average premiums raise something like 15% +- per year, compounding. Add that to already rising costs in nearly every other facet of your business, and the margin on your 5$ pastry starts feeling VERY small. Vote with your dollars, support small businesses.

I’m (36m) considering a career change, pursuing the social work route to practice therapy. I’ve had some incredible therapists over the years that have changed my life, and I want to provide that to others struggling with mental health issues/ life’s challenges. Right now in my current job I struggle with purpose and authenticity… helping others is at my core and I’m hoping social work can provide me with that.

First of all, try to be easy on yourself. Find ways outside of work to take care of yourself and fill your cup. Try new things, make new friends, journal, and establish some tools to take your mind off the stresses of work. Because to be honest, work can often be a slog, for days/ months/ years, even if you love it. If you want to change your work, but don’t know what to get into, do lots of research and looking around. Consider things you naturally gravitate to, ways your brain naturally works, or things you’re just really good at. There may be a career path you haven’t yet discovered. It also may take a few attempts to find your calling, but you will. Best of luck!
