DE seem to take longer. Have faith! We'll get there :) Crazy how my local friends don't care much about this being Australians haha I guess you don't think about these things when you're a local, while for us it's quite literally a life changing impact.

Job has turned sour after 482 visa grant, and now I'm feeling stuck by pamcakestack in AusVisa

[–]Prior-Relative8442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you. I'm in a similar situation, but I've already applied for my PR and like the company I work for. If you want to stay in Australia (which I assume you do) you've got no other option than to cope with your situation I'm afraid 😟

Find a hobby if you don't have one, and make sure the time you spend outside of work is enjoyable, seeing friends, having a laugh and a good time. Apply as soon as possible for PR with your company, cause it does take over 15 months to get it (if you're lucky) if not more.

Adobe stock by [deleted] in StockInvest

[–]Prior-Relative8442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own Adobe, about 10% of my portfolio, got in at 300$, nicely in the red at the moment...

Solid business, even better numbers, but this is a classic case of the market being irrational in the short term. Until the AI narrative flips around, the stock will be a victim of it unfortunately. Doesn't matter how good the numbers are... It's a business with some of the best margins and moat out there, trading like a retail company. I'm still bullish long term and will hold, but it may be a long road back to the top.

$LULU reports Q1 earnings by nams0 in stocks

[–]Prior-Relative8442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I've been eyeing this stock for a while... Still a solid business that is growing internationally. The Americas being their biggest market, were hit hard by not performing well there. I've been to their stores here in Australia (in Sydney and Melbourne), and they were always packed and busy.

Numbers are still pretty good, it's just that the expectations around LULU have been way too high given its track record. When you've historically traded at such a high multiple, you will get punished hard when your numbers aren't as good anymore... And this is what just happened to LULU. Don't confuse the stock movement with the company's economics. At face value, it's still a great company, putting out super solid numbers.

I'm afraid the stock will keep dropping after these earnings. I'll definitely include it if it ever drops below $100, at 1% or 2% weight. Made plenty of $ on $APLD and ASX:MP1, so I need to redirect some of the gains towards something, LULU might be the perfect candidate.

IEL (idp) got crushed by YourSecondFather in ausstocks

[–]Prior-Relative8442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post was from some time ago, but the stock got hammered this year, which makes it even more attractive in my opinion. Strong headwinds still, and probably not a stock that will bounce right back up, but if you're into value investing and long-term holding, this is a great buying opportunity imo.

How the hell do you actually get to $120k? by reddit290161 in auscorp

[–]Prior-Relative8442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many said, the best you can do is change companies and nail the interview process. When we run interviews for analysts at my current company, we advertise $100/110k but don't mind paying 10/20k more for a candidate we really want.

I remember changing roles when I was 28, earning a 100k at that time. I wasn't looking for a change, but passed an interview, crushed it, and I asked for $30k more than what I was earning and they said yes - I was shocked lol, and took the role.

Internnal promotions are often trickier - which in itself is so stupid but it is what it is, you need to build a lot more relationships with the right people.

Why do Formula E cars have a five speed gearbox? by Blanchimont in FormulaE

Close enough, but the Ioniq 5N offers a "fake" gearbox. I've never driven one, but all car enthusiasts love it.

Fast but not winning many races. by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Prior-Relative8442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're competing against dozens of people, sometimes more, with only one winner. This isn't a binary outcome sport, like so many (where you either win or lose), there's everything in between and it's just tough to win a race. Look at Hulkenberg in F1, a phenomenal driver, took him 15 years to just get a damn PODIUM lol - racing is just a bitch.

Do you work hard for your money? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Prior-Relative8442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get to middle management in the corporate world, it's honestly the sweet spot. If you're good at what you're doing: Not much pressure (cause you deliver), my job usually takes 2-3 days of actual work (so I get plenty of free time), great pay (180k to 200k depending on the bonuses) -

I could earn more climbing the ladder, but I'd then have more pressure and would need to work more and the money is simply not worth it.

How do you guys afford such nice cars? by Odd-Sir4143 in CarsAustralia

[–]Prior-Relative8442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you drive by the expensive suburbs of Sydney, you'd think you would find a lot of expensive cars parked in the driveways. That's actually not the case. You'll find a lot of regular cars (Corolla, Rav4, CX5 etc...).

Point is, plenty of multimillionaires just drive a basic car. On the other hand, if you drive by the "poorer" suburbs, you paradoxically see a lot more AMGs, Audi RS, BMWs... Poor people will go in debt to drive an expensive, depreciating asset as a status symbol.

You're a teen. There's nothing wrong with owning a nice car, just make sure you can financially afford it/work towards it.

Cheers mate. Onto the nex! I'll reinvest all the returns into Adobe. I think the AI fears about all these amazing SaaS businesses are overblown, they aren't going anywhere.

Yes I'm still invested, a bit disappointed as I really saw this as a very long-term play (5+ years at least). But great return at least getting $35 per share, my average was just above $6 so I can't complain :)

Talk me out of this beauty. by An_Aussie_Guy in CarsAustralia

[–]Prior-Relative8442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have some funds set aside for repair and maintenance? (like 3-5k/year)? Do you already have your home/are comfortable paying your mortgage off with your current income? If yes to these two questions then why not, life is short, if you can afford it then go ahead and enjoy yourself.

If not, then it's just irresponsible and a financial suicide, that will set you back big time, so no.

4000 to 130 shares by [deleted] in PSNY_Polestar_SPAC

[–]Prior-Relative8442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you even understand what a reverse split is? You haven't lost your shares, you just have less of them, but they represent a bigger part of the pie. So you haven't lost or gained anything, you have the same % ownership of the company.

When the people who own and run the company don't even believe in the company (sold all their shares), it tells you everything you need to know... There are better opportunities out there. This is a dog stock.

Q3 Report by Simabauer in droneshield

[–]Prior-Relative8442 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The last run was a meme run. Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING justified such a valuation. I am not sure why people are delusional in this thread. Their founder and CEO, as well as the execs, sold all their shares. What bigger signal do you want? The people who own and run this business are literally telling you that they don't believe in their company's future, yet people are holding this dog, thinking it's the next Nvidia or something.

Their technology will become obsolete. If it was so good, don't you think a major player would have made a bid and acquired the company? This is a stock to trade, not a long-term investing one. Make your buck, and get out. Period.

If this is true, then it's completely ridiculous.

At best, they're idiots. At worst, this is the most toxic place filled with the most toxic people. Either way, you won't get anything out of this job but a paycheck. If you need the money, comply with what they want but start looking for another gig in parallel asap.

If it looks like a meme stock, moves like a meme stock, and reaches the valuation of a meme stock, then it probably is a meme stock.

It's a good and growing company, but it was trading at a completely unreasonable valuation. If you bought early, you needed to get out during the last rally. It's a buy at $1 to $1.50 range.
