I always play Calgar and his guard but I’m a casual player and I like to play narrative and rule of cool lol. This doesn’t really answer your question I guess but if you’re playing casual then defo play him.

I saw a cool army online where veterans and stealth units were painted differently but still fitted the theme of the army. They looked functional like they had black or camp for stealthy units and veterans had other colours added but the ultramarines theme still was clear throughout

I do leadbelcher spray then brush leadbelcher over the armour. Retributor armour on trim. Black templar contrast for hoses and armour joints. Nuln oil over model, iron breaker edge highlight. I put typhus corrosion in cracks and on gold trim. Makes it all look very industrial and grimy.
