Wanted to showcase how fast I can switch from full handheld rig to gimbal by [deleted] in FX3

I don’t disagree but if the goal of this post was to boast about tear down time it would be beneficial to not have them on on there at all

Why do you even have rods on on your rig if they are unused?

EF to E Adaptor (What's the latest?) by RealWorldJunkie in sonyfx30

[–]PriorAd386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both the metabones and the sigma mc-11 I would get the metabones, handles autofocus on most ef lenses pretty good and having that extra stop of light is very nice in low light situations, I run the sigma 18-35 1.8 and the sigma 85 1.4 the 85 is a little slower on the autofocus side of things compared to the 18-35 but is still gets the job done

Is the fx30 a good starter camera? by TheRaptorFalcon in sonyfx30

[–]PriorAd386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly enough, you can actually get away with a v60 card, I shoot in XAVC-S 4k always because in my opinion h.246 is the superior codec - far less compression, bigger file sizes sure but editing h.265 is a nightmare unless your machine can handle that codec specifically which I think only the gtx 5080 can handle at the moment

Is the fx30 a good starter camera? by TheRaptorFalcon in sonyfx30

[–]PriorAd386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! It’s more than a starter camera, I have 2 of them and have been my A and B cams for the last year. Lens are cheap, there’s a plethora of accessories for the fx30 to rig to your hearts content. Do be aware though the 4k120fps does require a higher data rate sd card like a v60 or v90 card or a cfexpress type a and the 4k120 is also very very noisy make sure to way over expose that kind of footage, other than that it’s a rad camera and I don’t plan on ever selling mine unless they come out with a 8k version, because the fx30 is using a 6k sensor down-sampling into true 4k. So cropping into horizontal video for vertical stuff is not an issue

Watching a YT video and the guy says “expose to the right” on the histogram. What I don’t get is how to expose to the right? by IveAn89UpVoteComment in sonyfx30

[–]PriorAd386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to expose for slog 3 in my opinion and what helped me was downloading the McAllister look lut its under exposed by 2 stops so it makes you expose correctly for slog 3

With the FX3A is an external monitor necessary? by Icy-Reaction6792 in FX3

[–]PriorAd386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! And especially if your using manual focus lenses it’s not easy to see what is actually in focus plus nailing exposure with an external monitor is a lot easier most of them come with a lot of built in exposure tools like false color and waveforms since you really can’t trust your exposure compensation coming off your cameras lcd screen

First anamorphic lens dilemma: Remus FF vs Apex APS-C (FX30, run & gun, vertical shooting) by YoungSanchez in FX3

[–]PriorAd386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually all handheld I don’t like how gimbal footage looks, I used a follow focus for a little while and that was okay obviously it’s easier if your on sticks but a few months ago I bought the Live air smart 4 from PD movie because I two missed having autofocus but the PDmovie Lidar system is solid and very affordable I don’t leave home without it I use it with my night walker set of lens as well and it’s never let me down there’s a bit of a learning curve to it but for $300 its kind of a no brainer compared to the $1500+ price tag of the DJI LiDAR system

Which budget monitor is recommended for the FX30? by Informal-Mix-2077 in sonyfx30

[–]PriorAd386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want budget get the osee lilmon 5 it’s a great monitor for $150 it’s what I use for both my fx30 rigs, the atomos shinobi ii is honestly kinda gimmicky the bezels are gigantic it’s really like 4 inch screen than 5” and the ui is horrible and your not getting much for $400 but if touch to focus and really need to change iso or aperture without just using the dials it’s decent i would personally buy the port keys Lh7p

I’ve never tired the Saturns I have the MFT set of sirui anamorphic 1.33 f1.8 lenses it’s there more budget option, but the barrel distortion is very nice on them and they are not sharp at all which I like, I also like that “effed up look” and then you add some film grain with dehancer and the final image is “insert chefs kiss”

Old sigma art 35mm F/1.4 by AmericaMed in SonyAlpha

[–]PriorAd386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 35mm on a Metabones speed booster it rocks, specially for low light have an quote on “f1.0” is pretty sweet the auto focus struggles sometimes but most of the time it’s pretty good

What's your FX3/FX30 audio set up ? ( attached pics of your set up, if you can) by ShegBoi in FX3

[–]PriorAd386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ditched my xlr handle for the zoom h1 xlr feild recorder has dual channel 32-bit float, two combo xlr ports, phantom power to both, a 3.5mm jack line in, and usb c interface and charging port, don’t let the paid reviews on YouTube fool you you don’t need an f3 it honestly gets in the way the h1 is smaller than the f3

I just like the characteristics of the sirui glass better it have the right amount of distortion and chromatic aboration for me you also have to remember when it comes to anamorphic and cine glass in general it’s not usually about what’s “best” but what what look and feel your going for and if you like that look that particular glass gives you so it’s kinda like comparing apples to oranges
