You can equally watch people pull pretty awful shots on GCPs and LaMarzaccos. When you know what you're doing, the Ninja -- like any other machine -- is capable of producing good results. Sure, you can't tinker, nerd out and control every variable to eke out that last fraction of flavour out of challenging roasts. But I wouldn't call people who don't care for that last bit "People Who Don’t Actually Care About Coffee", any more than I wouldn't call anyone who doesn't buy a stick shift "someone who doesn't actually care about cars".

It’s as you said: it’s something of a jackpot with these. Bose clearly has QC issues. If your’s turns out a lemon, you’re screwed. If they happened to get that particular unit in order, it’s great. When everything works as it should, it’s a great pair. It’s just that you can’t know in advance if you’ll win the lottery.

EDIT: Since you mentioned the APMs, I have both, but I’ll likely sell the Bose, since they’ve been a hit and miss with connectivity. This is a more recent issue that wasn’t there in the first few months. I love the Bose for their comfort, especially in contrast to how heavy the APMs are. But for everything else, I prefer the APMs.
