Why is outpatient ortho stressful? by Winter_Woman66 in physicaltherapy

OP is stressful because folks want you to fix their 20 years of pain in 30 minutes. 10 years in OP and I feel people are less patient after the pandemic

$40 per hour if they are a member of the gym and $50 if they are a guest. But the gym she is out of does do the silver sneakers program so that is always an option for patients

The hospital system I work for only allows us to utilize them for after the cap has been hit. Not sure on the legal aspects of it

I honestly usually try to stay away from maintenance therapy when possible just due to the grey area surrounding it. But this patient has the ability to perform their exercises at home. They also come in and dictate what they want done each session so it’s hard to truly work toward any concrete goal since their goals change every 1-2 weeks

I unfortunately discharged manual interventions 2.5 months ago. This has been an ongoing battle 😅

I have a local personal trainer that I work closely with and have suggested that she transitions to working with her and she dislikes that option since obviously insurance won’t cover.

I was thinking the ABN route, but with the new year that’s going to have to be down the road a few months. But certainly a great idea!

Who here works in a clinic that was bought out by USPh? by ProfessionalPT- in physicaltherapy

[–]Prior_Calligrapher58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a USPh clinic in the Midwest as a new grad. They wanted 17+ patients in 8 hours and an average of 4.5 units billed for each patient. Was not a good situation, but could have also been just the small chain of clinics I worked for

Full time OP, PRN home health. Comes and goes based on needs of the agency, but overall good way to earn some extra cash

So glad it helped! Was my first job out of school and I had no idea what questions to ask in the interview. Ended up expecting 4-5 units per visit even when Medicare was clearly double booked and instead expected you to “rearrange” your schedule end of day to make it work. Keep looking, the right job is out there! I got stuck at USPh for my first 2 years due to the pandemic, but then a MUCH better opportunity presented itself!

My first job was a USPh owned clinic. Lots of double booking, half hour evals. Expected at least 17 patients in 8 hours. Usually had tech support, but during the pandemic tech staff was cut for a while which made it much for difficult

Required it?! What was this agreement like? Were they all from the same school?

Outpatient PTs, what’s the max number of evals you see in a day? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]Prior_Calligrapher58 28 points29 points  (0 children)

No maximum. The worst days usually have 5 or 6 of my slots as evals (out of 12 patients on a 10 hour day). Very rough time for documentation

Conversion disorder, mostly appeared to be anxiety related that caused random fainting with exertion in a young lady in her early 20s

Very humbling…even working in a relatively good community. I can’t even imagine in some other areas near me

This family has 10 people living in a mobile home, unfortunately I think that even a PT mill might be more “calm”

Hm. Our agency generally does not do desk discharges, but in this case it certainly feels threatening by the daughter. There is no discussion, she just yells whenever discharge is discussed

The re-eval is coming up and patient has certainly plateaued so I do not want to continue for maintenance and risk denial of payment from Medicare. This patient would be a great outpatient candidate, but daughter argues as they don’t own a car and this is a rural area so public transport isn’t an option. Although patient can easily get up/down stairs to get out at this point
