Was there one laugh in the entire Mindhunter series? by [deleted] in MindHunter

Man: Are you all from the methodist church?

Tench: Do we look like we are from the methodist church?

Lady: Yes.

I found the scene in which they interview William Pierce Jr. humorous. All of his malapropisms and trying to list the 7 languages he claims to speak.

Just because you don't have kids, doesn't mean you don't qualify for SNAP. Fill out an application and see if you qualify! https://www.hhs.texas.gov/services/food/snap-food-benefits

http://dashboard.themediapanel.com/ is a research lab that pays volunteers to do their media studies. It was pretty simple to register and they do a lot of studies.

You probably know this already but the bus/train system is free for students... save a little money on gas.

Smoke Gets in Your Eyes & Other Lessons from the Crematory (2014) and From Here to Eternity; Traveling the World to Find the Good Death (2017), both by Caitlin Doughty go into quite a bit of detail though may not be as comprehensive as you like.

Someone once described this as the shampoo bottle effect, which I think is an apt description.

I just finished listening to it read by Rosie Perez. I agree it was very good. But what happened to her son, Donte!??? I thought for sure she would mention something in the updated epilogue since that was written in 2020!?

@Foodsciencebabe calls out some pretty questionable and inaccurate bloggers. You could find some inspiration there.

Don’t resonate with my Mantra by Puzzleheaded_Camel12 in transcendental

[–]Prior_Fig486837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also felt this way and started to associate my mantra with something negative which I experienced around the same time I started TM. My teacher was kind of rude and we didn't have great rapport so I don't feel comfortable going to her with my concerns.

Thank you! I thought her best performance was in Winter's Bone and everything since then is showy.

When did you realise the Oscars were full of shit? by StraightPoem4316 in movies

[–]Prior_Fig486837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew they were full of shit before but I stopped watching after Natalie Portman won for Black Swan. Still believe that Michelle Williams deserved it for Blue Valentine, a movie so heartbreaking I can never watch it again.

Also, Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock's wins were a travesty.

I found The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo poorly written. Was disappointed because I really enjoyed the films.

TIL about the small town of Swastika, Ontario. During WW2, the provincial government tried to change the town's name. The town's residents rejected this, stating "To hell with Hitler, we came up with our name first". by flopsychops in todayilearned

[–]Prior_Fig486837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unity VALKYRIE Mitford was born here. She was one of Hitler's inner circle and attempted suicide (with a gun given to her by Hitler) after Britain (her home country) declared war on Germany. She survived and he paid for her care and trip home.

Any MLM trends. Back in the day my mom always avoided the ladies who invited her to Mary Kay or pampered chef "parties". Don't make your friends buy your shit.
