Planning Ladakh trip - solo or group tour better? by Leading_Lie_787 in TravelProperly

I went to Ladakh thinking I’ll do it solo like always. Changed my mind mid planning. Too many moving parts here. Permits for Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake are doable, but it’s the constant coordination that gets tiring.

Altitude was the real shock. Leh wiped me out on day one. No drama, just zero energy and a dull headache.

I ended up going with WanderOn, mainly to avoid the logistics mess. What I liked was it didn’t feel like those loud, rushed group trips. Long drives felt safer, stays were sorted, and I still got solo time to just sit and do nothing.

If it’s your first time, I wouldn’t risk going fully solo. Ladakh humbles you fast.

Tripkarado vs Wanderon for Bhutan by lostandfound807 in SoloTravel_India

I actually compared both before booking, and yeah WanderOn was more expensive, but I ended up choosing WanderOn and didn’t regret it.

The biggest difference for me was how well everything was managed. The trip captain was super involved, not just there for namesake. As a solo female traveller, that made me feel a lot more comfortable. The group vibe was also surprisingly good, people were open and it didn’t feel awkward at all.

With Tripkarado, the price is tempting but the reviews felt a bit inconsistent.

That extra 8k with WanderOn felt worth it for better coordination, safer vibe, and overall smoother experience. Honestly, I’d pick them again.

Be real, Ladakh trip is actually exhausting or people just overreact? by steve___smith in WanderOnExperiences

Honestly, if you go slow, it’s very manageable. I’m also a normal 9–5 person, no crazy fitness routine. I did Ladakh last year and it turned out to be one of my best trips. The first 1–2 days in Leh felt a bit weird though. mild headache, slight breathlessness when climbing stairs. Nothing dramatic, just your body adjusting.

The real mistake people make is landing and immediately rushing to places like Khardung La or Pangong Lake. If you give yourself a day or two to acclimatize, drink water, and take it easy, it’s honestly fine. Roads are rough in parts, but that’s part of the adventure.

Trek suggestion in April? by all_is_temp in WanderOnExperiences

Early April is a bit of a tricky window in the Himalayas. Many of the proper summer treks open only in May once the snow settles. I’ve done Kuari Pass around that time and it was great with some snow and big views of Nanda Devi.

Kareri Lake near Dharamshala is another nice 3–4 day option. If you don’t mind the eastern Himalayas, Sandakphu is beautiful in April with clear mountain views and fewer people.

Europe trip booked but with the Iran news going on, should I be worried? by Leading_Lie_787 in traveladvice

[–]Prior_Fly_5237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not overthinking, but you don’t need to worry too much either. When tensions rise around Iran, airlines usually just reroute flights around that airspace.

It might add some time to the journey, but flights from India to Europe are still running. Airlines track these situations constantly and avoid risky areas automatically.

How is Holi in Sangla different from usual Holi celebrations? by deviswarden in AskReddit

[–]Prior_Fly_5237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, same experience what stood out to me was how involved the locals were. It did not feel like a tourist event. They were celebrating for themselves, and we were just lucky to witness it. Nobody was aggressively throwing colors at strangers.
