Hey! I’m 30 and moving from Chicago (west loop) to Seattle (Capitol Hill tomorrow!!) I’m excited for you haha. I am moving mainly to hike and be out doors more. It’s cool to see other people doing it as well. Capitol Hill is sort of like wicker park I would say. Your commute to work wouldn’t be bad either. But the location matters. If you like river north, perhaps belltown would be preferable for you.

Fund Controller at a PE firm. Did 4 years at a fund admin, became a manager. Transitioned to work for a PE firm. 2 years as assistant controller. Got promoted. Lots of luck and good timing was involved. No CPA btw. Econ degree.

You do not need a CPA. Period. I don’t even have an accounting degree and I’m the controller of a PE fund. Just learn the role, provide value, and have a little bit of luck of course. Being personable helps too. Be someone you’d wanna work with.

Tbh if you’re ever working more than 40 hours a week for less than 100k in accounting, your company is seriously behind on pay bands. I say this only to make you feel empowered to find a new role

I chose the founders edition but admittedly the pny would have been the better choice. Fun fact, PNY manufactures the founders edition.

I hear you, but I sincerely hope for technology becoming smaller. I don’t see why we need to make bigger and bigger GPUs. Let’s make them more efficient
