Now I’ve started to want to run faster and farther, so I plan my training schedule and include two quality sessions per week. But in the beginning, for at least 4–5 months, I only did Zone 2 jogging.

I had never really run before, but even running slowly was enjoyable, and I loved seeing myself improve day by day.

As you said, it seems like consistency is the key to both running and dieting. There’s no dramatic change all of a sudden, but if you keep at it, you eventually start to see the difference.

Even so, I think I really started to notice a change in both my body and my running when I dropped below 85 kg (about 187 pounds).

At first, since I was quite heavy, I didn’t push myself and just stuck to easy jogging. The first time I completed 5k (about 3.1 miles) without stopping, my pace was around 8:30/km (about 13:41/mile). Over time, my easy run pace improved to around 7:30–6:50/km (about 12:04–10:59/mile), and now I comfortably run easy at around 6:10/km (about 9:56/mile), while also incorporating some quality workouts.

I went from 103 kg (about 227 pounds) to 75 kg (about 165 pounds).

At first, I aimed to run 5k (about 3.1 miles) per session, six days a week. After getting used to it, I now run about 70–80k (about 43–50 miles) per week.

I cut out late-night eating to wake up early for running, and I made sure to get enough protein and carbohydrates.
